Which Pram?

Pah, for a moment I thought there was a little Suplex on the way and was as excited as I am capable of being about the pregnancy of the wife of someone I haven't met.

i suppose thats the best idea, but you never really see anyone doing it do you? supermarkets don't seem to be designed for people with babies and no car. :(

Tell me about it! When I was on my own it was right fun (not) when I had both of them it was even worse!
The weekly shop went something like - take child out of pram, try and fold it up while grappling with them, lock pushchair into trolley bay (only some morrisons seem to have them) which means finding £1 deposit. Find another £1 coin, carry child and place in trolley, start shopping! At the same time hanging onto the reins of the older child so he doesn't run off.

At the end grapple with trolley and pram helplessly.
Smaller shops pram goes in trolley and whacks damn near everyone in the shop in the face.
Also transferring baby from sling to pushchair in front of whole supermarket as everyone stares at you like you're insane.

Or, try carrying a basket and push a pram and hold onto older child simultaneously :(
No wonder I have PTSD at the sight of a Morrisons practically.

There was, four years ago.

As for prams, get a second hand one like we didn't. There is nooooo point in spending crazy amounts. In the grand scheme of things prams don't really change and you will barely use it. I ended up using a sling more and when she was too big for that it was far easier to carry her on my shoulders or let her walk.
I was shocked to find that they even did types of prams in 'seasons' like clothes. I bought my pram a bit cheaper as it was last seasons colours. FFS, the only reason for that is so that (nerdy) snobs can see that you paid less.

i love our second hand pram with it's mismatched accessories.
we have never folded it up in mid-journey to save space... so i'm not sure how important this is if you live somewhere where prams fit on public transport.

We did this, it broke despite being a silvercross  The other 2nd hand ones I have had have been ok.

Also the brand new mothercare one is shit too. I'm starting to think all their products are crap apart from the clothing now, as the cot also fell apart after only a few months.

I have never had to fold ours up on public transport either. The only reason I have ever folded it up is to put it in the hall or in the boot of someone elses car.

yes... even travelling on the full train at christmas eve there was a place to put it without folding up. London is quite good for stuff like that though, i am sure there are places where having a pram that's easy to fold up is important. even if they can fold up easily though, surely if yuo have any stuff stored in them like shopping etc they won't fold up?

You've never got on a bus to find there was already someone in the wheelchair space with a buggy or a wheelchair?

i've once not been able to get on a bus because both the wheelchair places were full, but even if i'd have folded up the pram i still would'nt have been able to get on because it was so full and the next bus only took 10 mins or so to come.

Seriously? It happens to me at least once a week. I usually just wait for the next one as there's 3 route numbers that serve the journey or walk as when I'm getting the bus with the pushchair it's usually just to go food shopping and it's not really that far. But if I HAD to get that specific bus or it was too far to walk I'd want a pushchair that folded easily.

Ah - Edinburgh buses usually only have one space.

Yeah I hate having to fold the pram up. The one we've got is big and clunky takes up too much space and I'm not strong enough to fold/unfold it. We do have a maclaren pushchair that's easier, but my hands seem too feeble for the clasp!

oh yes well i did say that i was sure that it wasn't the case for everybody that the folding thing wasn't that important, but definitely for where we live in london i can't see ever having to fold it up... as long as we avoid rush hour

This pram looks good:
