Which phone should I get?

I wouldn't think you'd get too close to 8MB with a 6303. It's a phone that can access the internet, rather than an internet phone if you get what I mean. A 320x240 screen is fine for email and checking your train times, and I believe the Facebook client works well enough. Anything else gets a bit painful.

Which is great if that's all you're going to use it for. I'm perfectly happy with a 6300, because I never make enough calls or use the web enough to justify more. There's a limit to how much more you can get out of Gmail, after all. But then I do have work's Blackberry, so I can read the Guardian online if I forget my book.

8MB is utterly useless. As soon as you start using the web (which you will if you get a decent phone) that allowance will be gone in minutes. Get the HTC. Splash out. You'll love it.

I'm not really in a splashing out position but it's only the price of a pint and a half a month extra. I would have no problem wasting a £5 bottle of wine or two of an evening.

What can I do with 500mb and a HTC. Can I use google maps?

Checking on Orange you're looking at £19.97 a month on an 18months contract without a data plan for the Tattoo, but you do get evening and weekend data in that for a month. Then 4.49 on top for the data. If you've been with them a while they might do it cheaper than that.

Yes, definitely.

Looks like Orange has got the Satio on now

Anyone played with one of these yet? Symbian is a bit of a blow :(

I'm sure the camera is a treat, but that's one ugly looking phone. In fact, I had a go on one recently. *Horrid* interface too.

You can do just about everything a top of the range smartphone can do. It can do almost everything an iPhone can do - and a lot more stuff besides.

I meant more in terms of how much time each month I would have available to me to check maps, train times and email.

May help Atomic Supplex too

Side question, I know people were talking about Orange's Iphone 750mb, can someone roughly estimate how many minutes of 3g net use one would get out of 500mg, 750mg, 1gb etc per month

Its not based on time, so measuring by minutes is useless. Phrase your question in regards to the applications you will be using (web, downloading pod cast etc)

Well going back to my original question -email, google maps, train times.
Oh and this message board (for good measure)

As soon as I wrote it I knew it was inaccurate. How much mb would be used by viewing sites such as hotmail/bbc/youtube/facespace/ebay/youtube/iplayer in average manner, on a daily basis .. is there some sort of equation to work it out or a conversion...some said the orange cap of 750mg was sufficient, some said they used that amount in a day lol:eek:

It's seems that because of my weird super old plan that they have to honor I can do free internet by the minute but only evening and weekends. I don't know what to do, keep my old plan or grab the new £10 deal and a shit phone.

I think you probably have all the information you need to make a decision now, you just need to stop fannying about and decide.:)

I was thinking the same thing as I typed that last message. I sound like a needy child.

I am just dithering.

Oh hang on. This is really confusing. I am obviously out of touch. The manual has fuck all in it because it says the phone teaches you. My phone has told me nothing.

Also - What am I paying extra for? I tried to press a photo thing and it says that I will be charged to store them on orange. Then it just goes onto google maps without any fuss as if it's a free service. No warning.

What is the thing in the top right that says 3g (which I understand) or H??? there are two arrows by it that look like I am uploading and downloading all the time.

I have turned it off and locked it in a drawer.
