Which National Team could you play for.... if you were good enough

In order of preference:

France, Scotland, Poland, England and (although I may be mistaken about thi sone) Russia

ETA: I wouldn't be surprised if I had some Irish in me. That lot get everywhere

Wales, England, Republic of Ireland and France. Could`ve probably naturalised for Sudan or Mexico too. Probably good enough to play for Sudan n all. I`ve played against some of their national team. Rubbish!

I, rather boringly, am Nick griffin's wet dream and totally English back as far as the records show. Very boring.

Seeing as I have never played for England, I suppose I could play for any country in the world, if they granted me citizenship

Just England for me too, but my kids could play for any of the Home nations plus Poland, Belarus and maybe Germany.

England (born and raised)
Ireland (mother and paternal grandparents)

If I could just find some eligibility for American Samoa I'd be playing, captaining, coaching and managing them right now!

Well it could be five :- four grandparents and then one where you were born and/or raised and/or have citizenship.

If you've got British nationality you can play for England, Sctoland, Wales and Nortehrn Ireland regardless of where you live and your ancestry.

Wales and Republic of Ireland... I'm still waiting for Tosh to call... with him falling out with everyone I think I'll be in line by the time I'm 26 :D

Scotland or Ireland.

It wouldn't make much difference to me which I played for. If pushed, I'd probably take the Aiden McGeady option just to piss off the Scottish football journalists

Doesn't that only apply if you are a forign national and then still if you don't play for the U21s? Once you've been capped once, you can't change - for example Stuart Mccall was on the bench for England U21s but didn't play and therefore could play for Scotland later in his career. He got stripped ready to come and everything but the whistle blew and he couldn't get on. I'm sure if he had, his entire Scotland career would never have happened.

I remember Pat Van Den Hauwe had the choice of team when he got a British passport, hence me thinking it's only forign national with a British passport. Surely players like Alan Wright would have been called up by Wales ahead of Tranmere's Gareth Roberts for Wales if what you say is true?

grandparent only rule: Ireland, Trinidad, Portugal, Guiana
great grandparents would widen scope and include england :( !

would choose ireland, trinidad or portugal. i would love to play alongside christian ronaldo or dwight yorke or ronnie whelan.

manager wise i would choose a scottish manager like fergie or dalglish. fergie helped out yorkie a lot at old trafford recently and is doing the right think to make sure rooney is fit for man utd!

So lintin, lets say you're a world class footballer - and you choose to play for Portugal, does that mean you've be 'poached' by them?
