Which is worse?

Do they not get on, do you think?
'cos the more I think about the series of appalling duets they've been involved with,
the more a Bowie-McCartney single seems terrifyingly inevitable at some point.
a joint penned new horror? or an old favourite hopelessly disfigured?

you decide

Christ no!

The frog chourus is worse, Laughing Gnome is funny. But its the Bom bom bom I've got stuck in my head.

Agreed - Ebony and Ivory is awful, (off subject a bit but I used to like Stevie Wonder til he recorded twee rubbish like that, Paul McC I would expect it of)

Frog chorus is worse by far. I think Bowie's recording of the Laughing Gnome was done a bit 'tongue in cheek' so it's actually quite amusing in a naff sort of way.

I agree too, Bowie was going through his Anthony Newley phase at the time (1967ish) and that song with its awful jokes such as "it's the Gnome service" and 'The London School of EcoGnomics" was part of that fun thing. Still like the song though, unlike the Frog chorus; sorry Paul but that is crap.

get off I thought the laughing gnome was serious....:eek: unfortuanately Bowie - rock god and 70's icon that he is... does have a bit of a history of naff songs...what was that one with Bing Crosbie...personally I can't stand hunky dory with it's schmaltzy americanisms either...however ziggy, aladdin sane, low, heroes, and even scary monsters are works of genius.....

I got bored quickly with "Aladdin Sane," I'm not sure why. Too many of the songs fell flat for me, I think Ziggy was a lot better. "The Man Who Sold The World" is up there with the best of Bowie's albums too.

to be fair to that shite mcartney I have got a bit of a soft spot for 'mull of kintyre' sniff....:hmm:

Yeah me too, it's good when you get drunk at discos to link arms and sing that one (or it used to be anyway).

To continue in my, seemingly vain, defence of the Frog Chorus:

Yes, it's shite, but the song was written, you know, for kids. ;) The Laughing Gnome was self-indulgent shite. I consider the latter to be far, far worse IMO.

to be honest, i think people who say that they don't like the frog chorus are only doing i to look cool. deep down inside, they think it's a lovely little ditty.

I thought I remembered liking the Frog song years ago, but I clicked that Youtube link and I couldn't sit through the whole video.

It's dreadful! :(

It's really utterly dreadful. However it is musically ept. The Laughing Gnome is not. Both exist in a realm so dreadful as to mean there can never be an aesthetic winner or loser, though.
