which is the best cider?

Draught Strongbow has never been equalled. If Louis Quatorze were alive today it would be his pint of choice.
would this be the same louis quatorze who designed his palace without bathrooms or privies and the same louis quatorze who took all of three baths in his life - and was considered clean, for a frenchman?

ive got 2 bottles of westerns organic in the fridge. gonna tuck into that in a bit..

old rosie is well nice.

i had some 'cheddar valley' cider once (BRIGHT orange stuff served out of a brown barrel thing). that was some crazy shit. the guy in the pub actually called it "loopy juice" and he was right.

top stuff :D

That'll be Roger Wilkins Mudgely Srump, beloved of Joe Strummer and Rogers neighbour Chris Jagger, it pisses over Riches cider.

Generally I like Weston's Organic. A billion times better than anything else you'd get in a general pub. Weston's Organic seems to be the only one you see frequently which doesn't just taste like fake apple juice (Kopparberg etc), and doesn't taste like piss (Strongbow etc). They have it in quite a few supermarkets and pubs these days.

So yeah, that's the one for me. I know from cider festivals that there is definitely much better to be had than Weston's, but its far too difficult to remember the name, or even find anyone selling the stuff.

if i get a decent choice in the pub, i'll go for thatchers gold, stowford press or ashton press.

black rat is fucking evil

K's great - 4 of those and I'm up for anything.

otherwise, weston's vintage is perfectly acceptable. doesn't dump me on my arse i have to say - it actually sticks jet assisted takeoff packs onto the back of my soul, before shooting me randomly into the sky of life, leaving me careening and careering into the ineffable daft void of fun, before i crash and burn into mental nothingess. then i get up the next day without a hangover, have a fried egg sarnie and a cup of tea, and feel great.

Herbsman, get yourself down to The Cotham Porter Stores, where they have a range of rough ciders (inc 3 home brews plus a few from Thatchers and others) at £1.55 a pint, so you can sample them all.

i'm craving some cheddar valley now.

and its not even 12 o clock.

they sell it in the pub next to uni (the new oxford, salford, if anyones interested. great pub). had a few pints before a lecture once and had no food all day.

made for a nice hour giggling to myself in the middle of the lecturer talking about modernist soviet architecture.

THEY SELL THE VALLEY THERE??!?!?

*makes note to pop in tomorrow*

There is this small shop in Wells on the sea in Norfolk.

The best still cider and perry I've ever drunk.

Growing up in somerset a trip down to the lcoal small cider farm (near wells) is the best Cider I have tried. Now I am in London the best I can get my hands on easily is Thatchers.

New Forest Scrumpy come up to Borough Market on a saturday - http://www.newforestcider.co.uk/ - it's pretty good considering it's not Somerset cider, although they do get a lot of their apples from Somerset.

my mate was getting me some ciders yesterday and the choice was woodpecker or diamond white. woodpecker is about 1.6% so i told her to get me the diamond white. my head still hurts.

Oh Strungy:(

Have you ever had White Ace?

I'm not a big cider connosieur but I know I don't like sweet ciders, I can't stand Strong Bow or Magners.

I like Perrys though, I thought I hated them and slagged them off for a whole year but the Strawberry cider at Glastonbury tasted like a dream in a paper cup. It was soooo cold though, that might have something to do with it.

I drunk Thatcher's Gold yesterday.

perry gives me heart attacks. last time i drank any amount of it i was curled up on the kerb having palpitations and all sorts while my mates were arguing about something or other. it's scary shit tbh

Have you ever had White Ace?

i used to buy huge bottles and partially freeze it to remove the water content :o

stowford press is my favourite these days, someone mentioned old rosie- you can visibly see my game of pool deteriorate as i get through a pint, it is fucking mindrot.
