Which country has the best cuisine?

Sorry i realise i didn't answer question. Just went off on a rant.

World cusine as served in UK...

  1. Indian
  2. Chinese
  3. Portugeese
  4. Greek
  5. Italian
  6. Turkish

This is what we called "lor pet" (mooli) but I couldn't find any pictures of the pickled kind. My mum also makes this and cuts it into finger like strips. It really stinks. Sometimes you can get them as like a pre-starter in a Chinese restaurant but it's not as strong.

Ham choi is lovely with beef. Sometimes I make it with fish which is also nice.

Lor pet. Yes I know what you mean.

This threads reminds me that I should talk to my mother more and learn more recipes before it's completely forgotten!

2. Canada – Various cuisines but everything was prepared fresh.
Pasta and meatballs in the UK = Dried pasta, jar of sauce and that will be £10-12 thank you.
I had freshly made that day pasta with a freshly made meatball sauce for £6 in Toronto.
Rip off Britain!

Where the hell do you live? I can buy fresh meatballs in a cafe for £6 in London.

As for fresh pasta, I'd suggest that most Italians would happily recommend dried spaghetti over 'fresh' to accompany meatballs.

Canada benefits from a huge range of immigrants and cheaper produce, albeit often with the use of hormones, but I still think there's more variety here.

I'm talking Cardiff prices. Oh and ribbon pasta not spaghetti.

Just looked up a resturant. £9.95 for meatballs and pasta.

London is flooded with businesses so maybe they have to be more competative.

I really like Hungarian food , IMO you can't have too much paprika :D Although I am going to Croatia later this year so I suspect croatian food will become very popular by then as well .

In fact I like the food of every country I have been too ( except france )

You just like food, sweetie!

:p

Actually, have you tried dutch? Not met many people who like dutch food!

Salt cod/bacala is mostly Norwegian. Sure, southern European's do lots of good things with it, but it doesn't come from around here. Sorry if that's a bit pedantic.

Italian food wins every time for me. Sure, pizza & pasta are good, but what about? Polpa di fave and pepperonata. Parmigiana. Polpette. Coffee and a cornetto. Dolce fresh from a pasticceria. Ice creams. The list just goes on and on.

I would go for Japan because I like like eating little bits of everything, plus nearly everything is yummy and fairly heathy.

I probably would like it . I like most European food with the exception of French , Spanish , Portugese and Italian , although I suspect it's the english versions of Spansih , portugese and Italian that I don't like and the proper stuff would be much better .

We certainly produce some of the best ingredients in the world -

We definitley make the best bread and beer.

Think also on: smoked fishes.

Italian - I ate lobster gnocchi followed by veal in tomato sauce, with Bardolino wine, and zabaglione for dessert in Rome a few years ago. It was fantastic.
French - Cassoulet
Indian - whatever it was my local shopkeeper Mr Patel used to make and sell, frozen, to select customers. Like a mutton Rogan Josh but a fuckton better.
