What really gets me is that I know people who'll see these cosmetic adverts, go "Oh, she's wearing fake XYZ! Epoch lulls!" but then happily go out and buy the product anyway "because it makes my XYZ look good"...!
Just more proof that no publicity is bad publicity I guess.
in most cosmetic ads teh results are falsified, fake eyelashes etc
you dont need to put 'we're lying' in it. l'oreal can say "brand new face cream, now includes Nutrillium pro-retinol special compound xyz" etc..because all that scientific sounding bollocks is just a trademark they've made up. none of its real.
but dont trust me. i'm ad man, jr.
seriously though, the entire industry is corrupted to fuck. its all about squeezing every last penny from people and creating false demand.
apple being a perfect example of this- look at the iPhone. creating your own hype and false demand for what is effectively a pretty third rate product.
you can put any old shit in a posh box and double the price. people WILL ALWAYS buy it. supermarket 'finest' ranges are another good example.
e2a: still i shouldnt really moan...never bite the hand that feeds you and all that...
