Where's nice, seasidey, countrysidey, yet near work?

There is some good (good not great) surfing on the Gower Penisular near Swansea so thats not a bad recommendation. Their football team is shite though and full of holligans.

Pah... hahahahahahahaha

almost as shite and full of hooligans as the one in Cardiff... since when has a places footy team been any benchmark of where is great/not great to live?
If you judged a place my its football team nobody would ever live anywhere!

As a Cardiff supporter I'm obliged to have a pop at Swansea at every given opportunity. I could have been worse and used the J word and mentioned caravans :p

So:

Cardiff
Swansea
Geordieland
Exeter
Cork

Must admit I hadn't thought of Ireland, what's the cost of living like? (housing, really)

Cork is one of my favourite places in the world -and Kerry - the coastline is beautiful - I'd love to live there but I don't think the time is now. In the future though.....I could have a horse again....loads of outdoors living....not sure what I'd do with Dub though :o :D

:)

Depends where you want to be really - people here think its well expensive but its a lot cheaper than London! I'm looking at houses at the mo and have my eye on a house in Cobh for about €300k (say £200k)its a big 3 bed semi with a sea view and huge garden, thats a twenty minute drive to the city. If you go futher out the prices drop. My rellies are an hour drive from Cork and bought a bungalow for €230k recently. Cost if living is high though, especially drink and fags!

Seems a bit cold/frigid.. is this the case? We're tricky fuckers to please because I need daylight and she doesn't like the cold too much.

Prices seem comparable to the UK.

so what you want is somewhere warm, picturesque, with great beaches and a great place to live that's affordable and within easy reach of a big, pleasant urban area?

mwahahahahahahahahahaha

If only I wasn't stuck in this stupid fucking loophole that makes an Aussie visa so difficult for us to get

Weather is similar to the UK, only it rains more (not at the minute though, eh? :)). Still, when the sun is out there is no better place to be than West Cork.

I think it's wetter - north atlantic drift and that - but that also means you get the warmer currents too. They grow some tropical plants on an island in Bantry Bay in Cork. And when it's sunny - it's gorgeous.

Is that because you were trying to do DIY and put the shelf in the wrong place again?

Careful.. keep up this incessant mockery and you'll be left with Pie and the horses for company.

Let's face it, it won't be long before she regresses into their level of consiousness. Like the 14 year old homo-equine she once was. Then where will you be?

Some people will always bear a grudge, but we're all multi-cultural here now. :) You will get fierce slagged though, so stay away if you're thin-skinned. :D

I can live with that, see above ;)

Well it's all nice, for sure, but an easy commute to Bristol? It's not even an easy commute to Taunton..

No. You're right, now I think.Takes me an hour from Porlock to the M5. But then I'm a slow old bugger.

Exeter is not to bad though. Do that in just over the hour with luck and a following wind.
