Where would you like to live?

Full of organic farms, surfers, hippies, nature reserves.....in fact 90% of it is like this......

Sounded good until you mentioned hippies. Amsterdam, along with Barca, NY, SF and so on is a city and that isn't what I'm looking for. Given the political climate the US and North America, Australia, and most of northern Europe are not places I'd choose to live now.

:D

I know what you mean about the US though.....even a small number of gun totin' Bush-supportin' people would do my nut in.

You okay with the non gun totin' Bush supportin' people then? Or the gun totin' not supporting Bush people? I'm sure there's some lovely people and some lovely places in the US but it's not somewhere I'd choose to live now.

On a narrowboat somewhere near London. It is gonna happen really soon too. Within two weeks. :p

yay!

Soulman - I know what you mean about the US - but I think Hawaii is very different. I mean, half the people who live there don't want to be American anyway!

The thing is, unless you are one, you're unlikely to meet too many of those in the many parts of the States.

I don't recall meeting a single person who has expressed an admiration for Bush or a liking for guns since I moved here.

I'm living here :)

Bristol is in my heart and my soul, it's home, always will be and wherever I go I will always take a little of the Bris away with me and leave a large chunk of my heart there...

If I had to leave - Scottish Highlands or for great cities to have fun in and relax, Melbourne and Cape Town :)

Nairobi Nairobi Nairobi. Was living there, been back foir 8 days and scheming about returning as soon as possible. It's the best place in the world (apart from the crime rate...) people are amazingly friendly, loved my job, great bars and clubs, bah, can someone lend me the money for a flight??

ive heard nothing but good things about the phillipines. Id like to live in Beijing now. Singapore could be quite practical.
The first few days in the Philippines completely did my head in but after a couple of weeks i had grown to love the place. I can see myself living in asia at some point in my life.
I've always fancied going to Hawaii too but not to live.
I love somerset though. i feel totally at home here even though i only came here when i was 9 and have moved loads of times since. the countryside is so green and lush here and as soon as i cross the county line i breathe a sigh of relief. :)

Would like to train in:

Japan (esp Togamura)
NYC
Paris
Saratoga Springs, NY
London
Sydney
maybe Melbourne too?

Would like to live in...Berlin, I think.

I'm thinking about two places: one in N and one in S London.

Neatly avoids most of my major transport problems, maximises diversity, and has NO AIR TRAVEL IMPACT

oh, weren't we mentioning that?

:p :D

Hmmm... i'd gladly put it to the test:) . i stayed in edinburgh after leaving school which is ok but i wouldnt stay there again. have lived in london for 6 years which i think, next to tokyo, is the best city in the world. before i first went to tokyo i always thought new york would be next place on the agenda to move to but having been there twice now (second time just to check i hadn't gone to the wrong city by mistake!!) i think it's a dump and boring as fuck. london is a million times better. so, yes, at this point, if there was anywhere i could stay it would be tokyo.

New York is ok but yeah, I think I prefer London. Don't get me wrong Tokyo is great fun but I am a man of simple plesures these days and I know exactly where I want to go when I'm on tokyo which makes it less interesting than it was when I saw if for the first time.

I wouldn't mind living somewhere quiter, I have a soft spot for shimosanakayama in chiba which is only about 30 minutes on the JR to the center. I love the way there is no litter and there is an an eliment of respect for others.

I have chosen to live in Itacare Bahia Brasil, a small rural fishing and surfing village surrounded by Atlantic rain forest and rivers. I think that is it now for me, I love to visit the UK get mashed up with old friends and spend time with my family, but for the rest of the year its Itacare for me.

I have just come back from two weeks in London, which I really enjoyed.

The first things I noticed when I got back here a few days ago were:

The stunning tropical nature, shapes of the plants trees etc so different from the UK.
The Geography; hilly forests, rivers leading to beaches.
And of course the weather.
I feel less constrained and watched here, for example - no CCTV, no speed cameras, being able to (safely) over take a Police car whilst going over the speed limit even in a place the denotes no overtaking - without worrying about the Police stopping me on a principle of law.

The level of uncertainty inherent in everything in Brasil, means that if you are Brasilian or choose to live here – you have to develop a somewhat resilient happy go lucky attitude and self reliance. An uptight European/American would go mad trying to live here as they would at home.

After seeing David Attenborough's climate change doco NZ is looking pretty good. Got my eye on a cheap town near the beach, lakes and hot springs near by, and bit of gang violence to keep the NZ cunt cops busy so they won't nick me weed.

Edit: hmmm, near the beach with rising see levels.

Italy, Australia, New Zealand or North caroline. I have friends and family in these places and they're all incredibly happy. Wouldn't come back to the UK for love or money.

Or love of money. Would you live anywhere you don't have relatives or friends? A pioneer?
