Where to start with Prog - old and new?

Their first couple of albums are most certainly prog & IIRC (been years) Point of no return & Monolith are pretty-much bog-standard concept albums. After that, yes they headed into more conventional rock band territory.

Then there was the member who kept popping-up in collaboration with Steve Hackett for a while.

That's given me an idea for another prog thread.

I used to buy a lot of stuff from the old freak emporium, loads of hard to get hold of psychedelic, prog, space rock etc. now sadly gone. Anyone reccomend another online purveyor of such goodies?

I find it odd that people want to randomly post negative and/or obnoxious comments with no constructive purpose. It is just totally beyond me why people feel the need to do it, if someone starts raving about a band i do not like i just ignore it rather than put the boot in. if i saw that someone had started a thread on genesis i would not even read the first post, let alone dive in and start telling the world how much i hate them. First off its just plain rude, second i really do have better things to do with my time.

Constructive criticism is extremely valuable, especially if it comes from a source that is trusted and credible, but that is not what we are talking about here. if people want to be taken seriously they should make grown up comments. if you run around calling people dumbass and dullard, dont be surprised if you dont earn any respect.

I've seen Marillion live this week as they're touring at the moment, have always really loved them although I wouldn't class them as prog these days, but the 2 gigs in Leeds and Manchester were amazing - new Album out at the moment
