Where to go camping?

Leave the campsite and head into the hills. Had a magical couple of nights in north wales camping between xmas and NY, got to -5, but the viability was so good and everything felt magical with a layar of frost on it.

Obviously means having half decent kit, but one you've got that the worlds your oyster. I'd much rather camp on a cold dry night then a wet warm one!

It sounds good but what do you do all night when it's dark at about 5?

I'm clearly a shit camper.

Depends if your own on your own or with a mate. Learn to cook inside your porch and brew up, take a small hip flask/few joints or failing that a book.

The ability to be able to sleep for 12 hours is a massive bonus. :)

bit of a trek but Sligachan camp sight on skye can't be beaten ......
the pub/lodge/hill-climbers rec hall is legendary :D but don't wander off into the wildreness after a bellyful, the campsite is hard enough to locate after dark as it is

Love Sligachan!

Went to my first (and, er, only) ceilidh in the campsite pub.

At least the wind keeps the midgies under control. Sligachan can be hell for them.
Sligachan is the only place anywhere of many that my very stable tent has blown over. :)
Great place though. I'd go there now if given a few thousand miles and some prospect of non-horizontal rain.
