Irenick said:People leafleting for the Lambeth SOS Campaign have also mentioned a tendency people in Brixton to ‘walk-on-by’. They weren’t leafleting outside the tube station; they chose the Town Hall.
I reiterate; where is Brixton’s politics?
The simple answer, I suppose, is that many people in Brixton have no politics. So be it. Learn to live with it; I have.
I think you possibly have too high expectations of how many people of any random segment of society that are walking through a busy area trying to get where they need to be are going to stop and listen to you, or even take a leaflet.
I work for a charity. We send out appeals to our supporters - these are people who care, are informed, and have opted-in to support us and receive our mailings. The response is about 1% for some appeals. It's just how it is.
Trying to get people's attention on the street is a hard job, like working in telephone sales, you get a lot more rejections than 'sales'. I think you've taken it all a bit too personally and decided to blame the whole population of brixton rather than just get over it.
