I usually have it that if Jefe slags off a film, I make a note to check it out, but if he recommends an album, I do give it a go

Bollocks, those were my two even vaguely credible suggestions.(Mark Lammar's Radio 2Friday show, Guy Garvey's BBC6 Sunday show)
i dunno, i usually do pretty well. This month's issue had a primer on the odder end of kosmische music, really obscure early 70s stuff, and I found all but one of the albums that appealed...
...but when I'm stuck at work I just follow people's myspace friends.
Blogs, Magazines, mooching about on the net, music forums.
The best new bands I hear off are usually recommendations from other bands rather than journos, bloggers, industry types. That's why i think myspace still works. If you really like a band check out their top friends. In among the strippers from cali there's usually one or to pearls.
And made me dig out the 'Noise made by people' by Broadcast which is a great lost album.
