Where can I get chips and gravy in London?

Rock & Sole Plaice does gravy. Really nice fish & chips, horrific prices though, fish, chips + gravy = £7.50

Or a cool tenner if you eat in :eek::eek:

47 Endell Street, London, WC2H 9AJ

Yes, but they are ridiculously good...

Used to courier for a photographic company just down the road (sadly closed now, one of the few places that would still process almost all types of film), my god their chips are tasty.

Fucking hell that's twice what I pay for the best fish and chips around. Oh and gravy has no place alongside a fish.

I have heard of photographic processors referring to their developer as 'the soup' because after a while it goes a bit brown. But putting it on chips and calling it gravy is taking things too far. Bisto is already a bit of a compromise on quality without going so far as using Ilford ID11.

Cleans out the guts good and proper though... :D

But really, I've never had fish and chips as good as Rock and Sole (even in Aldeburgh); mind you it's the chips (which are not that expensive, money is in the fish) which stood out; lovely fluffy wedge cut beauties.

This may be slightly coloured by the fact chips often taste good after half a day's cycling.

I do miss it - gravy was always the preferred topping back in Canada. But quite frankly, chips 'n' curry is good enough. It's spicy gravy everywhere I've been to, rather than an actual curry sauce.

'Course out in Zone 5, I don't even get that much! :(

Dionysus, on the corner of Tottenhan Court Road has gravy, mushy peas and curry all in bain maries, just like up north.

I went in there last night and thought I'd take a quick pic to amuse you as the box was faded so the chipsngravy looked properly like a little pile of sick but someone had bought it

oh no!:D

thanks for the thought though, damn that skank who bought it.

what kind of a chippy doesn't do saveloys?

An inferior one, probably up North, run by strange types who don't understand common decency and tradition.

Northerners can't make chips. They give it the charly big potato about their superior chippies, but when it comes down to it they're all too quick to smother the spuds under a flood of chemical gravy gunk or diarrhea coloured pot noodle curry smeg. What does that tell you about the quality of their product eh - what they got to hide...
:hmm:

Bump

I have a hankering for these, any takers? I want good thick gravy and soft thick chips with either a sausage or if I'm feeling fancy a fish, oh and maybe a scallop...

There used to be one down Wimbledon but believe it went out of business when the owner died.
