South London's much bigger and more prosperous, but it has less tourists and less black cabs.
Er... it's about the same size, and considerably less prosperous!
edit: but infinitely better

Don't forget us South Norwoodites... we've got an SE postcode too![]()

given that in early modern times what's now the borough was equivalent of today's shoreditch drinking hell, hogarth's 'gin lane' would probably be more reminscent of south london.North London:

beer alley and gin lane are apparently part of the city, but, as i say, the borough - south of the river - had traditionally been beyond the control of the city authorities and therefore a drinking, whoring and theatrical hub. there were, in early modern times, no theatres north of the river.I thought it was St Giles? Ie Covent Garden/Drury Lane endz.
Of course there are. There are lakes near me. Called South Norwood Lakes. For some reason I think 'what's the name of that lake' but I don't think there is one in Sth London.

Heh, is it still there?
Taxis won't go south of the river at night, allegedly. I've never lived south of the river so I've never tried and don't know if it's true or an urban myth. But that's what springs to mind if someone says South London.
