When was the last time you ate fried bread?

It's got to be fried in bacon fat, which means starting with proper bacon that produces fat not scum.

It is then lush, especially topped with fried tomatoes.

However, caff fried slice made by putting a slice of kingsmill in the deep-fryer is orrible.

Hey we have some leftover duck fat......mmmhh.

Anyone seen that episode of the Simpsons where Homer is forcing Bart to "butter his bacon" and "baconise that sausage"? :D

When I was younger I used to love the greasy-spoon (or Little Chef) style fried bread. Tried it again recently and it is just utterly disgusting

A bit of homemade fried bread which is not utterly saturated in cheap oil would be a Good Thing though, I think.

And I won't even hear of eggy bread/French toast being mentioned in the same breath as fried bread. Eggy bread is the king of breakfast foods (sprinkled with sugar, or with maple syrup and bacon...mmmmh)

"butter up that bacon" is a bit of a catchphrase in our house  :D

I want fried bread now.

Used to work in a hotel where it was on tap in the mornings, had to really stop myself munching on it eventually. I used to dip it in the beans...lush.:o

last time i stayed in a hotel. We got in at eight in the morning, still drunk and headed straight for the breakfast. delicious :D

About 8 years ago. There used to be a roadside caff on the way to Bala that did a huge full english breakfast including fried bread.

I love fried bread - only ever eat it in hotels though - it goes right through me.

:D I like the way you think.

Never been much of a fan of fried bread myself, but am very glad that reading this thread has reminded me of the matchlessly delicious eating experience that is eggy bread - I like mine with cinnamon sugar, mmmmmmmmmmmmm.
