Ooooh! I know how bad this is! My old house was north facing and had no central heating... it was a case of taking an ice pick to the bath!


I got a blow heater plugged in in the hall way which blew hot air into the bathroom, and used to let it warm up for ten minutes or so.

Just the thought of it fucking hurts doesn't it. If no-one else could smell me I'd rather walk round with terrible BO than get in the shower when it's this cold.

Problem is, my flat is fucking shit, there's absolutely NO insulation. The door to the back garden is in the living room and there are gaps between it and the doorframe. You can have the heating on full bollocks raging nuclear heatcore for six hours and the temperature in the living room will not rise to a temperature that actually *feels* warm, and once you switch it off it drops back to normal within an hour.

I used to work in a laboratory and they had these big outdoor refrigerated chill rooms to keep samples cool. My bathroom is actually* colder than those rooms, even with the heating on 'thermonuclear reactor setting'. Seriously, you can leave it on for as long as you like and the bathroom WILL NOT warm up.

we have a glass fucking roof upstairs
it looks great, but in this weather it means massive heating bills
most mornings now, we wake up and the outside of it is completely frozen over in the bedroom and bathroom. looks v pretty (all white and sparkly with the sunrays coming through it) but it doesn't motivate you to get out of bed!!
