When eBay auctions go bonkers

The seller said "UK based bids only" and would only ship to the UK.

Makes no difference sadly, which is a right pain, I always put that, yet somehow people still managed to bid. Ebay as usual don't care.

The scammers do some really good fake paypal emails to make it look like you have been paid as well.

I can't get a cbx750 because some middle aged git with money always gets overcome with nostalgia and leaps in.

Anyone fancy giving me one?

I was caught on the right side of a bidding war a few years ago - I put my scooter up for sale - Perfectly good, though big miles yet well maintained. Similar age bikes had gone for about £600 - £700, I'd have been chuffed with £500. Went for £1300! - way way way over the value. Both bidders had been to see the bike before the auction, and just got into a bidding war. The winning bidder turned up next day with cash. No grumbles.

Well well, this one was 175 quid until ten mins before the end and has just leapt to 310!:D

Hmmm

went for £430 in the end and 'Bidder 2' is no longer registered with eBay three days after auction ends

odd bidding pattern too if you ask me... they've obviusly bid a fuckload at the outset to scupper the auction or summat? Any other ideas?

I won a blackberry bold in an auction yesterday and today, the listing isnt available and the seller is no longer a registered user. I believe this happens when ebay has suspended the account. Strongly suspect Ive been done and nothing will arrive.
Fired off emails to ebay and paypal, just have to wait and see what they say. Frustrating.
