When do the new Routemasters arrive?

What about the £300m startup? The money given to crapita to fix THEIR computers.
Its an embarressment.

so you've gone from complaining that the congestion charge is not profitable now (even though we're a public sector organisation, so we shouldn't be!) to complaining about something else you have absolutely no idea about.

on yer bike!

Im happy to be proved wrong;) Go ahead

Can't you read? The proposed new Routemasters would be fully accessible for disabled people*. But are you really arguing that old people would prefer not to have a conductor onboard?
I'm arguing that politicians lie and that the elderly would rather be on a bus than watching the sentimentalists wave at them from the top deck of a trip down memory lane*

*clever phrasing, that

Right. So 'progress' involves producing a bus that is more dangerous to pedestrians and cyclists, prone to catching fire and easy for fare evaders?

Bendies = Pretty crap buses. Few good points. Many bad.
Double Deckers = Good buses. Few bad points.
Routemasters = Old buses that won't be coming back. Some good points. Some bad points.

Double Deckers win.

ok, but then end of, yes?

£300 million wasn't given to Capita. If you work out the figures, the amount extra per vehicle that Capita were allowed to take out of the charge was increased marginally, as in pence. This was because the scheme was more successful than at first envisaged (and maybe also because TfL didn't have the legal expertise at the time to enter such a difficult and complicated contract, but that's besides the point). No extra money was handed to Capita, they had to earn it.

All of which is redundant because Capita have lost the contract. So that's more bangs for your bucks in future.

With regards to the cameras, the original central zone cameras were only about 70% efficient at capturing your number plate. Penalty charge notices had to be checked in person. A very tedious job. New cameras are close to 100% efficient.

Meaning what:confused:

Meaning you're a stereo-typical loudmouth who doesn't half go on, and on, and on about stuff you haven't got the slightest clue about, but still feel the need to express yourself with conviction as if your word is gospel.

If that makes me a snob I apologise.

You had the opportunity to argue sensibly but you would rather insult. Enough said.

In the short term I'm looking forwards to seeing real Conductors on the Bendy Buses.
This would address one of the major problems with the bendies, yes.

I do hope people aren't polarising this as a bendies vs. routemasters debate. The standard double decker is the best current option and it beats both of them.

Sorry, no sleep has left me with little patience today. It wasn't meant as an insult but a jibe to be compared to your ;)'s and casual dismissal of work done on your behalf.

I dont get offended by insults on the internerd;)

"casual dismissal of work done on your behalf" The nanny knows best attitude of TfL realy grates. But thanks to you and all (your many) collegues anyway:D

May I ask why? what purpose would they serve? is this whats going to happen?
Boris has suggested it in the past. It would be for fare enforcement/collection, as currently you can easily avoid paying.

In theory. Lib Dems reckoned TFL lose 6.4m to fare evasion on the bendies. This is out of a >£1bn bus fare revenue, so it's 0.6% of total.

"it would be a dangerous job and no one in their right mind would want to do it.2

Seem to be forgetting we've had them in the past.
