I'm petrified of them too and have spent many summers sweltering with all the windows shut.

I don't usually buy from those catalogues they put through the door but I found a net that sticks to a strip that you stick round your window frame. It was only a fiver so I'll give that a go.

We've got loads down in Kent. I thought someone was knocking on the window loas night, but it was just a *mahoosive* Maybug repeatedly flying into the window!

Its on the wall now. They're amazing insects. The wings themselves look like an acorn. Its about 1.5 inches long and about 1 inch wide.

I tried to take a picture but my camera resolution cant pick it out properly.

They're related to scarab beetles (cf. The Mummy) dontchaknow!

The big bastards are Stag Beetles. Very little scares me shitless, but they do.
