ABEs aren't a reaction to anything. They don't like their neighbours, same as every other country in the world. Brazil and Argentina have never been to war as far as I know yet they hate one anothers guts. You don't have to try and rationalise these things.

Xenophobic and bigoted reporting goes on everywhere so if you're consistant, you should hate every team in the competition.

But if Scotland were playing and England weren't then it would be exactly the same. Of course they're going to support the only British team that are in the WC - what else do you expect?

i don't read tabloids, any we have our own xenaphobic, rabble rousing tabloids to choose from. and normaly i don't watch england games, i watched the england world cup games, because it's the world cup. And the motson statement was from a non england game

English or British tennis has been crap for years yet the press seem to be able to whip up some people into a frenzy at this time of year, do people really not have more important things in their lives than watch/support a 3rd rate player hitting a ball over a net.

If Wimbledon wasn’t in the UK then I expect tennis would be about as popular here as American football.

It is press hype and seems to work year after year even though the UK doesn’t have a player who could win.

I would have supported Murray as much as Henman (ok so thats not much but hey!) but then he comes out and says he is supporting whoever England play. That's not him supporting Scotland, that's him being anti-English. I support Scotland, Ireland, Wales, N Ireland whoever they are playing (unless against England) but when any of those nationals want England to lose then I change my perspective (but only in relation to those individuals) I will take the piss and rub it in to anyone who expresses a dislike of England and in this instance, that includes Murray

tbh, it didn't bother me that murray didn't support england, i'd like him to do well in tennis too, i'm sure he will win a grand slam one day, probably the us open rather than wimbledon as any decent british player has to cope with way too much pressure and expectation at wimbledon

apparently his website was flooded with abusive messages after he came out as an abe, and more abusive messages when a 19 year old lost in the last 16 at wimbledon, I mean what a failure, a 19 year old is only one of the top 32 at wimbledon
