What's your usual Chippy order?

I used to work in a fish and chip shop.

I had an awful habit of dropping the tongs in the frier.

And the boys out the back who did the fish were really weird and only talked about Babylon 5.

how to make the perfect batter?

like this?

I'm eating Sausage and cheesy cauliflower mash (no potato) with peas and onion gravy right now :D

Cor sausages and cauliflower/macaroni cheese is to die for!

I usually get a saveloy and chips, and some bread and butter, and a can of coke :D
Or fush and chups :)

Pollock up here is not an eating fish - Most goes for fishmeal. Haddock, Lemon Sole or Skate is the traditional choice for chippers, although a few other sppecies are now common - eg, Cod, Orange Roughy, Hoki or farmed Salmon.

If there ever was a picture, of a monk who had had his throat cut, mid-pray, who was instantly then battered and stuck on a load of giant chips, then that is it.

I've been impressed at the number of things folk see in that picture - Maybe the chipper alternative of the Rorschach Test?

usually fish and chips - haddock preferably, or plaice
sometimes just a chip roll
sausage in batter and chips if i am feeling naughty :hmm:
curry sauce on good nights

on very rare occassions i might go for a minced beef and onion pie and chips

i want fish shop fish and chips now

I hate fish and chips from chippys.........

UNTIL!!

I discovered this shop called the Red Mullet. Fuck me. The fish tastes like the sea, the chips taste like every one has been fried individually, just for you and you get lemon and tartare sauce with them. I asked the guy why it is so nice and he said to meee....

IS FRESH! IS THE FRESHEST FEEESH! NO IS FROZEN WHICH IS PROBLEM WIV THE OTHER FISH SHOPS GARY! STRRRAAIGHT FROM PLYMOUTH TO YOU IN THE MORNING!

I was like, safe man, big up yer chips

Another victory for us Plymouth folk, supplying the finest and freshest fish to yet another local chippy.

Living in Plymouth, I am of course spoilt for choice as to decent chippies, but the I'd recommend most is Platters down on the Barbican.

I'm gonna force feed you cauliflower net time I see you

You treading dangerous waters there missy......you know people with no hands? Yeah? Aks them how they lost their hands. Go on. It'll be the same tale every time, and it'll involve cauliflower, and yours truly.

I only ever go the chippy about once a year these days. When I do I get just fish (no idea what it is - send the daughter), chips, and mushy peas* with plenty of salt and vinegar

*otherwise known as a split n fish, which sounds quite rude hactually

I've never heard that before but I like it :D!

When I was little we'd get fish, chips and scraps - the scraps being the little bits of batter which had fallen off the fish
