Whats your Nearest Non-League Team

Great blog entry Donna Ferentes, I love the bit about the boys with the ball cos that used to happen to us at Boston United when I was young - it's now a mega club so they probably don't let unauthorised footballs in there now

I haven't been to Dulwich Hamlet for ages, but on a Monday night when I play seven a side there, Fisher Athletic are using the ground for their games

So, sod the sky sports games on the telly, we all peer out of the window in the bar and watch that

Stella excitement

:)

You weren't at Hayes when Boston United got promoted to the League? That was the notorious occasion on which Boston fans kept asking me why I was reading a book.

No I wasn't been Leeds since I was eight, while watching Boston every week, (or not, just kicked a ball around)

Interesting fact, for me, my physics teacher, who I used to beat at squash when I was fifteen, went from terrace to board-room, and is/was a director at Boston

I remember seeing him on the telly jumping up and down once they got promoted

Anyway, back on topic, my nearest is Dulwich Hamlet

Soz for the derail

:)

I also used to like York Street because one of the pitchside hoardings was for a pet shop.

I could just imagine all the Boston fans spending the afternoon chanting "you're going to get your fucking head kicked in" and then nipping in on the way home to get some fish food for Goldie the goldfish.

Are they playing in Wealdstone again yet?

They have a very passionate support for a non-league club.

Wealdstone are still sharing Northwood FC's ground. Although they now have the real estate for a ground & will be building a new stadium in the future..

Northwood? Are they not at Edgware still?

No been playing at Northwood this season. Used to be the Dons big rivals in the Southern League days in the 1970's.

Were top of the Gola league (think Conference national) in the 1980's then lost their ground to some developer & dropped rapidly down the leagues.

Northwood is a very striking place to watch football when the floodlights are on.

(Also, if we're being all non-leaguey here, don't they do a particularly good programme?)

Bamber Bridge FC for me, they are closer to where I live than the team I support, which is PNE.

Bamber Bridge (Brig) for me also. Though am a Blackburn Rovers fan (shoot me now) ;)

East Thurrock United- about 10 mins walk away from me. I used to go and see them lots. very good atmosphere down there actually, lots of singing on REAL terraces.

I can't believe I'm the first person to give a big up to the mighty ...

Hendon FC! :D

They're mine as well, been a few times, doubled up with a visit to brent cross

Good craic from the crowd. I had to support them because they played in green (not many English teams are - the colour was thought unlucky).

Fascinating Hendon fact - they were known as Golders Green Town until 1946.
