Whats your most expensive/rarest/collectible record?

I got a copy of "Scouse the Mouse" by Ringo Starr (£90) - a children's story written and narrated by Donald Pleasance which makes it sound really sinister.

Also a promo copy of "Queen of Fools" by Barbara Mills on Hickory records - apparently it's worth about £200 (5p in Oxfam!)

My favourite is my "Pet Sounds" autographed by Henry Cooper (completely pointless but might be worth something to a fan of both The Beach Boys and British boxing - niche market y'see!)

The most I've ever sold a record for is over £200, for a promo copy of the first Arctic Monkeys release. I haven't a clue what other stuff is worth though. Might have a play with that site later.

i thought my nirvana/jesus lizard split 7" was worth something.

according to ebay it's worth what i paid for it in 1994, a fiver :(

Out Of Order - Stung/Emotions 12"

:-D
do u do weddings?

Rarest record I ever had was a promo CD of 'Ladies And Gentlemen ..' by Spiritualized. It was withdrawn as the title track had an Elvis lyric in it and the Presley estate threatened to sue so they changed the words and re-recorded it.

A few of the promos with this version are knocking about, though. I paid £20 for it in the Record And Tape Exchange in Camden. Flogged it on Ebay for £75 a couple of years back.

As are Coil completists.
I know a guy who helped sell off some of Jon's collection of occult books after his untimely demise, and he was stunned at the prices some of the Coil-heads were offering him for anything with the vaguest provenance or connection to any of Coil's work (obviously mostly Austin Osman Spare and Crowleyana).

Thanks for that. I know some of my PTV vinyl is rare, but i hadn't thought about the couple of Coil albums we've got. I've just checked up on Elph vs Coil 'Worship the glitch' and it seems to be going (on discogs) for between $50 and 120 Euros, which is quite pleasing for something i used to keep mistaking for a 10 inch single  (at self)

Bit disappointed that my pristine copy of ACDC's High Voltage on Albert Records isn't worth much. I thought it would be worth a bit by now.

Still have no idea how much my copy of the K Foundation's Que sera sera/War is over if you want it is worth. I tried to sell it to Reckless Records years ago when i was skint and they wouldn't buy it because they said it was so rare they didn't know how much it was worth :D On this basis i'd say it's my rarest thing, but i don't know if that means it's worth something...
It's not the CD single though. It's the cassette one, which probably knocks a lot off the value.

well it was a big hit wasn't it? Purely for Nirvana's involvement?

Yeah, too many knocking about for it to be all that rare. There are loads of other JL records rarer.

I have the original Sliver. Is that worth anything?

I have the first The The single, I'm guessing that's the rarest thing I own.

I remember my mate having that promo CD too. :)

I imagine the really collectable version of Ladies And Gentlemen ... is the blister pack which contained twelve CDs, each for one track!

Elph vs Coil

i had a copy of that. was sent it so it came with all the press stuff and covering letter.

sold it on ebay about 4/5 months ago for about £45 if i remember correctly.

gotta say, althiough i've got a few LPs and seen them a couple of times , i've never really 'got' Coil.:(

I love Four Sail. Not as much as you, cos I still prefer Forever Changes, but it's really neglected

Yeah it is. I got it during a happier period of my life than when I got "Forever Changes," so it's hard to assess them objectively. "August" is superb though.

I think that cost £125 when it came out. Bloody daft idea, if you ask me. :D

it's probably not worth more than that now, those things built to be collectors items quite often don't work cos they're stupid and noone wants them in the first place.

got a copy of Second Hand - Reality for £15 3/4 years ago (saw it while browsing one of those non-ebay auction sites with out many buyers and remembered Record Collector had had it in a list of rare psych). Just looked it up and popsike says it's sold from £41 - £166:eek::):)

I've also got a Profile records promo of 'Beat Bop' Rammelzee vs K Rob, which I think I managed to get for a very reasonable price.

Has that got 'Weekend On Mars' on it? I've been trying to get hold of that song for ages.
it has indeed. if i can sort out a lead for my mixer to laptop, i'll sort you out an mp3 in due course if you remind me.

from limited edition number 4779

PICKED UP 5 OF THE ELECTRO"STREETSOUNDS"LPS for 10P EACH MINT CONDITION,NOT SURE how MUCH THEYRE WORTH BUT 10P,S GOTTA BE A BARGAIN!!:D

Somewhere I've got white labels of the first two Zen releases by Coldcut (after they had stopped doing poptastic stuff for Yazz and Lisa Stansfield and Junior Reid).

When they played them to one music business honcho, he said "I'm sorry boys but it just isn't music". So they called their publishing company Just Isn't Music Ltd...
