Second take on this thread.... tell us who your network is and if you're pleased with their service....

*poll en route

Orange... and they're better than they used to be. No real complaints.

My views..

Vodafone - best
Orange/O2 - both ok
T-Mobile - weak handset choice and average network let them down, good customer service
Three - Shit

Hmm, I wouldn't say I loved them, but then I wouldn't say I hated them. I felt dirty answering that poll, Ed. Dirty.

o2.

They're alright, screwed me in the past but been okay recently. Also offering me £100 instead of an upgrade which is pretty sweet.

Vodafone, whose coverage is markedly superior to Orange ime. I can get full bars even in remote locations

Been with current contract on Orange since 2002 and no complaints.
Much better than previous Tmobile (although they were called One2One in my day) which I couldnt get coverage for in out of London places.

Also have payg sims on Vodafone and 02 - Vodafone does seem to have best coverage of all the networks

Every time I call O2 they are so helpful and friendly
They rarely keep me holding for long
When I upgraded they actually told me to reduce my tariff and save me money
The also have the BEST hold music ever

Maybe I am lucky?

o2 are clearly the best, I've tried the others, had vodafone and one2one contracts for years but I do like o2 pay as you go now :)

Discovered Ikea mobile the other day - does anyone have one? Presumably they operate on the back of another 'proper' network like Virgin with TMobile or Tesco with 02?

Virgin - sometimes dodgy network, but absolutely zero complaints about their customer service

However, would prefer some type of package that would give you free minutes/texts to countries outside the UK

Virgin. Neither love nor hate them. They haven't given me cause for ire, but neither have they done anything remarkable. I have to have a network, they are one.

I've been with O2 for years, first with my own contract and for about 2 1/2 years on a work phone. They're alright, network's pretty good across London except for when something happens and it gets too busy.

I threatened to leave once when they wouldn't renew my pay-upfront £120 per annum contract but they caved in and renewed. :)

Aye,my wife works for them.Whatever money she puts on Ikea match it.Shitty phone tho.

I am with 3 mobile. Because somebody gave me a phone and it only works on 3. I have never had any complaints. Don't know about phone upgrades or contracts or any of that.

O2, crap customer service (well not much worse than T Mobile really ime) but excellent coverage. My net speed is much faster than on T Mobile and rarely I don't have coverage.

Been with 3UK for a while. I've never had any significant problems with network coverage; I think this is a bit of a myth left over from their early days when they were the first to offer 3G.

Their "customer service" is rubbish though. There have been several times when something has gone wrong (generally as a result of their incompetence) and it has taken a lot of frustrating phone calls and emails to get it sorted out. On one occasion they cancelled my contract when they shouldn't have, and then reinstated it with different conditions and started charging me for stuff they shouldn't have. It took me about 6 months to sort that one out.

However, I grudgingly tolerate this because they are consistently cheapest. And probably, the other networks are just as rubbish anyway.

Tesco Mobile(O2 I believe)

but I have an old Value Tariff SIM, dunno if that is still available, so, all my texts are 5p regardless of where they go (UK only) calls vary (I think)
Texting is mainly what I use it for
no complaints at all - can recommend actually - never had an issue with coverage in Manchester, Oldham, Morecambe or Lancaster (and their surrounds)

Asda's texts are 4p I noticed all UK calls 8p - I may get a SIM of theirs, 49p when you buy credit on it at the same time, dunno, they use Vodafone and I see from their coverage map that all is good on the reception front

plus they charge 20p per mb of data - is that cheap or what?
I can't use gprs or WAP on this Value tariff of Tesco's

I'm with T-Mobile, no real complaints although internet connection does seem pretty slow but I've no comparison as it's the first time I've tried it.

Previously with Orange, who just seemd very expensive in comparison.

I've never needed to contact customer services for either, phone connections have been reliable, the initial set-up was problem-free.

Not much help really. Sorry.
