Interesting you should ask this now.

My ancient laptop (256MB, Win2K) with broken backlight I was running into an external 15 inch LCD couldn't cope with a week's holiday and yesterday I was forced to finally get my DIY 1.33 ghz /768 MByte Athlon tower going again - after maybe 2 years' sulking after I blew up the ATI graphics card (which I hated anyway.) so I'm back to my good old Matrox G400 dualhead.

It took a fair bit of hoovering to shipt the bits of food and dead animals.

I may have to treat myself to a decent large HD Monitor now.

The power supply is as hideously noisy as I remember - trust me to buy a super quiet chip cooler and a server PSU. :p

Currently I have a monster desktop, a old laptop for downloading stuff in quiet and a work desktop replacement laptop, so its pretty hefty.

Still like the desktop due to being able to get the best performance and house 7 hard disks, well, the SSD is just lying on the floor of the case.

Desktop. No idea what the spec is these days, cos I've upgraded it quite a bit over the years. The case is probably the only original bit.
I don't even know how much RAM it's got, I should probably have a look and see if there's any spare slots to chuck a bit more in.

A desktop, and it will be until someone builds a laptop with 4 TB of HDDs, 500 square inches of screen space, and a graphics card that will play crysis at 1920x1200

I ran 2 monitors for years (I have 3 at work still) but the 24" iMac screen was soooo much nicer when I got that.

I'm trying to get work to let me buy myself a 24" iMac for the office :)
With LCD screen prices plummeting, I'm thinking about getting two 24" monitors.

Rockin'!

Desktop as main, laptop mostly for mrs. I want to buy 12' laptop for myself and hide the desktop in a cupboard with wireless keyb and 24' mon for movies in the living room.

Always used to be desktop as main machine with a laptop back-up, but have handed the desktop over to the missus and and work on a desktop-replacement style laptop (Dell XPS M1530). Thinking of getting a netbook too as it's good to have two machines when the computer is how I do all my work (translator) in case of disaster, plus then I could get back to poncing around coffee bars pretending to work. Might start a thread helping me pick which netbook. Excitement!
