or one of the compilations?

<snigger>

first and last and always was a disapointment given the head of steam that was built up by some outstanding singles and 12" before i.e Alice and Temple of Love.....although Marian is a classic. The album also suffers from poor production which I remember being obvious to my teenage idolising non educated ears at the time......:D so must have bad

I just downloaded 'some girls wander by mistake' - bit rough around the edges but got some good bits on it - including adrenachrome, one of their early singles which I remember was being bootlegged like mad back in the day....

hmm floodland - 1959 was nice - not sure about rest

vision thing - just silly goth with guitars..

I also recently downloaded the soundtrack to their 'final' gig in the royal albert hall back - again despite poor quality recording (god knows who their sound people were) - absolute classic, with mindblowing guitar work from Wayne Hussey - especially considering the other guitarist Gary marx walked out earlier that day - fuck can he play, lot of effects but the tone he gets out of the guitar blew me away then and still does......and they all sound tight as....

So sorry to be a purist on this one - but the original lineup or nothing for me!!:)

actually I read recently that Andrew Eldritch has released a couple of trance/techno albums - anybody know about these?

It's hard , but I'd say Vision thing just squeezes in to first place for me . Floodlands is ok ( Dominion/Mother Russia and This corrosion are the best sisters tracks IMO but the rest of the record just doesn't hold up for me :( ) and first and last and always just doesn't seem to get played enough even though I like it

Both frickin toilet.

(I can do quite a dope Eldritch impression, mind. Not that that makes him any less of a twat. And as for Huseey, don't get me started...)

I must have had a compilation as I don't recognise any of the covers

or maybe I'm thinking of the t-shirt.

I iz getting teh oldz

ohhh they take me back to being 13. :)
myself & my friends at school named our *gang* after them.
we sacrificed an ant :(
which i still feel guilty about to this day :(

i'd go for vision thing just cos it was my time, then.

probably either A Slight Case of Overbombing or Some Girls Wander By Mistake - both fine compilations :)

"First and Last..." had the best songs.

"Floodland" had the best production.

"Vision Thing" had a few good songs, good production, but on the minus side, Tony James (or "Reverse Midas" as I used to call him) doing his usual plodding crap.

but it does contain the line

"just another motherfucker in a motorcade", which is excellent :D

I quite like "hailing Mary's left and right, none of them slow down" although it's essentially meaningless.

I voted Floodland because I like the overall atmospheric of it best, but my favourite songs are the really early tinny-sounding stuff.

Can we expect any more "What's your favourite [insert slightly risible goth band] album?" threads? I'm crossing my fingers for a Virgin Prunes one meself.

First & Last & Always for me too, although I haven't listened to it in years.

My mate's cousin is the guitarist with them now.

First and Last and Always. Although the best stuff was the Reptile House EP, Body Electric and Adrenochrome.

A Slight Case of Over Bombing. Need to refresh my memory on the others. Some Girls Wander, pretty good but the minimalist sound of it gets a bit dull.

"First And Last And Always", but I preferred the early 12"s (Reptile House EP, Temple Of Love, etc) to the albums.

You should have seen the state of me back in those days, though. :D

some girls wander by mistake, by a country mile. I'd vote for it even if Adrenochrome was the only song on there. Those early eps, I love them.

First & Last & Always is a classic I reckon, but Vision Thing is the only one I ever play now. I never got into Floodland.
If he ever makes an industrial Sisters album that could be the best.

Has to be Floodland, but only because its release was the catalyst that catapulted me into Gothdom. I've got to agree with previous posters that the EPs represent their finest bodies of work, though.
