What's your favourite item of cutlery?

My Mum used to have two slightly odd shaped pieces of pale blue plastic which were apparently my spoon and pusher in my infancy.

I only have vague recollections, but I don't think they were shaped like those.
Mine were exactly like the picture, including the bunnies, which gave me a pang of nostalgia when I found the image. I suspect you're a little bit younger than me with your new-fangled plastic :D

Don’t let dessiato see it!

There's spikes on it for holding items still, he'd probably manage to lean on those with the palm of his hand and get something caught in the vice at the same time.

It's actually a great looking item for people with difficulties cutting stuff using 2 hands or holding stuff still to cut it - but so fucking expensive. :(

This teaspoon. It's from Ikea, but I didn't buy it - I must've taken it from somewhere I worked. It's nothing spectacular but I just love the shape of it and the length and the weight, it's kinda perfect.

Cheap light cutlery feels horrible in your hands. The best cutlery I’ve ever had has been purloined from large institutions. Dunno why they always seem to have decent silverware

In the kitchen at work we have teaspoons so flimsy, they bend when scooping up sugar, coffee, etc.
Made me feel like an effortless Uri Geller 🧙🏽

Cake forks, the perfect marriage of style and function.
I quite like a fish fork too.
I'm really into my cake forks, but tbh I feel like my set of everyday forks - plain but heavy Sheffield stainless steel in reverse rattail - are probably my favourites. An everyday use item that feels just right is better than any occasional use item IMO

no mine but my da has his own fork when i mean he own fork i mean its the only one he ever uses

and has always had it as long as i known even the mom confirmed it he had it as long as she has known him

that is friggin dedication to a piece of cutlery

I eat cake regularly.

He has a fine selection of whimsical items, judging by his films.
I don't believe any of the pictured items are that whimsical - a fork, a fork for getting pickles out of a jar, an admittedly quite florid teaspoon (it might actually have another purpose tbh, not sure), a cake fork, a butter knife and two plain teaspoons. Where's the whimsy?

Does anyone have a least favourite?
There’s this fucking fork that is only millimetres shorter than the other ones, but if I ever accidentally grab it from the drawer, it gives me such a feeling of revulsion that I want to hurl it across the room into the bin.
Dunno why I don’t do just that actually!

We have some inherited silver cutlery stashed away somewhere that never get used as they’re so heavy. Some ancestor of mine was the skipper of a ship and had them made so they wouldn’t fall off the captain’s table in a storm. At least that’s the family story.

Yes, I have some thin, flat forks that I think came back by accident from my work.
I send them to school with the eldest because I don't care if they don't come back.

Itsu plastic sporks. They're plastic and terrible but they are goddamn perfect for eating ramen and other noodle soups. And I eat a lot of noodle soups.

My others are two tiny coffee spoons I knicked from Le Poule Au Pot because I was so outraged by the bill.

And the nice fork with the round handle.

Yep, a knife that's slightly bent at the end I'll never use it because it displeases me mightily. But I can't get rid of it or the ratio of matching knives and forks in the drawer. would be ruined.

I've got similar SAS cutlery - I "kept" my set after going on a jaunt in an "embassy" not allowed to talk about it doing a bit of work iykwim

I just wish I knew where my "good" (as in a shape I like) spoons have gone.

Used to have 4, now only have 1 and that has suffered due to being used to serve ice cream in an impatient manner.

I asked OH about the rest of the spoons once and he looked vaguely guilty so I suspect he was taking them to work to eat pot noodles for lunch and forgetting to bring them home. I wouldn't have minded if it had been the ones I don't like so much (too narrow), which we seem to have an abundance of :hmm:
