not all, but it is a large part of it. they (xenomania) work very closely with the girls and get the girls input with the song writing and production. if you read girls aloud threads on urban, people who love girls aloud acknowledge and appreciate the work done by xenomania, so i you're not really telling us anything new or taking the wind out of our sails

Awful example. There are any number of similar outfits Paul Simon could have chosen to work with, but for whatever reason, he chose Mambazo, so they got the breaks and similar acts didn't. So yes, luck and marketing

I thought it was a point worth making, as it goes, even if the example was deliberately frivolous - to illustrate that the luck / marketing thing goes far deeper than just 'disposable pop'.
