What's your favourite butter

I use salted Lurpack spreadable, because you can't spread regular straight out of the fridge, nor can you keep it out when it's 30 degrees as it would melt or go rancid pretty quickly.

I love crumpets, toast, potato cakes, teacakes, hot cross buns, you name it.

I love President unsalted on baguette that's fresh from the boulangerie and still warm, with a bit of jam.

Irish Kerrygold - on the pricey side but so delicious even just on toast.

Couldn't believe Kerrygold wasn't mentioned on the first page.

I kind of pick it up in the supermarkets if I'm perky and awake enough to remember, but generally Mrs. Griff picks up Lurpak spreadable.

This thread has entered my dreams. I dreamed of proper farmhouse welsh butter on hot bakestones fresh off the griddle. It was like being back in Wales. I woke up to factory butter in the fridge :(

Still, factory butter is better than factory margarine.

There's a french place at Borough Market that sells butter, yoghurts, creme brulee and various sea salts, and they do a very nice herby garlic butter.

I might just pop up there tomorrow morning and get me some actually, thinking about it. Plus some sausages from Boston Sausage, a couple of rashers of bacon from Ginger Pig, then grab some mushrooms from the veg shop on New Park Road on the way home, and I'm good to go for Sunday morning.

I use Flora or similar. It spreads easily and isn't 60% saturated fat. I don't use much of it and the taste of these things really comes down to what you get used to.

Gah!

I hope that you are giving the bread you are spreading it on at least ten times the consideration you are giving the butter.

So how do you butter eaters cope with the spreadability problem then? I can never be arsed with trying to get enough of it to melt enough to spread.

Forward planning on the Kerrygold, and Lurpak Spreadable for the spur of the moment. :)

That's what I feared. Non-random snacking or a compromise. That's why I made myself get used to the taste of Flora instead (funny -- once you are used to it, you start thinking that butter tastes odd instead).

Could never go near that fucking stuff, mainly because of the vile taste which I can assure you tastes nothing like Kerrygold butter.

Secondly because of those crap '80s adverts where some bloke in a fucking supermarket picks up a pack and starts mouthing the word Flora with a fucking stupid face to his Mrs. Or summat like that, it was a long time ago.

Flora ads have always been shit. But at least they're not raping the memory of punk, eh?

I think it's ridiculous that the lead singer of a cynically marketed manufactured pop band is getting flak for doing an advert.
