Work day routine: I get in, put some porridge in the microwave (with brown sugar and sometimes a banana, if there's one in the fruit bowl), and when it's ready I'll sit at my desk and eat it while reading Urban75... Awww.... :p

Weekend: no breakfast, straight to lunch...

I did notice I dramatic improvement on my general health once I started having porridge!!! As well as becoming at lot more regular and smooth in the poo dpt...

Porridge is horrid! absolutely vile... how can you?

It's great stuff! Like Iemanja says, it's good for your guts and it's one of those carbs that releases energy slowly (SZC would know more about this).
There is no crap added (at least it would be fucking stupid to buy it with anything added) - loads of cereals have sugar and salt added to them unnecessarily.

Filling - which is something I rarely say :o
Doesn't go soggy - because it already is!
The Quaker man in the adverts.
The Scottish eat it!
Flapjacks!

Erm.....

i am not really a breakfast person but these Germans seem to be mad for their museli.. just been into my tiny local Spar and there were about 60 different kinds of museli...

They are all evil but when I used to get stoned I sometimes liked honey nut cornflakes.

Gimme muesli with yogurt and berries. Or those crunchy cereal cluster things. They are like the bits out the borrom of the tin when you make flapjacks. Oh yessssssssssssssssssssss.

in a couple of weeks time I know I'll suddenly completely go off them and not eat weetabix for the next 10 years (like last time)

I do that as well - about 10 years ago I used to eat Weetabix every day for breakfast when I got to work. Now I can't face it ever again.

Yep, that's right. Porridge releases sugars into your bloodstream slowly meaning that you feel fuller for longer and are less likely to snack mid-morning, it also has a low GI number. Cornflakes has the highest GI number compared to most cereals.

Porridge is also a good source of soluble fibre so it also lowers your cholesterol levels. The way it is digested means that it your liver has to produce more bile salts which are made using cholesterol. I could go into greater detail but I won't :D

Btw, those blueberries/raspberries you eat with your porridge are great for you.

porridge - particularly nice this time of year with freshly picked blackberries.

Mind you, I put some brown sugar and peach on it the other day (a holiday - I indulged) and that was very nice indeed.

Added advantage of being a 'superfood'

I can see the villagers arriving with their flaming torches and pitchforks over in the Alba board...

R.I.P. reNnIe - no longer doing porridge in this cruel world

So come on then, what is it?
Never Eat Shredded Wheat - when you're orienteering anyway.

A nice healthy bowl of cornflakes and semi-skimmed for me (with lots of sugar on, but look! still got all my teeth! --> :D )

Weetabix.. or the Morrison's equivalent.. You know where you are.

Keep things simple in the morning..

Are you sure they are healthy? Have you looked what's in them? I haven't by the way. Just assume that cereal has hidden bad stuff.

Well I know the ricicles (sp) are bad for me - hmm fried corn and sugar :D

I think the bran flakes are ok aren't they?

Other then that I just come to work early and get a bacon sarnie from our canteen :D

Bacon sarnie has got to better than bran flakes

Usually eat brekkie at work so at the moment it’s been rice krispies. Am a big fan of Bran flakes (crunchy nut bran flakes if you can get ‘em are fabby...)

If I am at home then I do like a bit of porridge made with rice milk, often add coconut flakes/dried fruit/nuts or whatever else I have to hand. Specially good with honey..... mmmmm..... yum

I'm really liking porridge made with water and with prunes, coconut chips and maple syrup swirled into it. (Blueberries are nice in it too)

knit my own muesli in the warmer months - good quality porridge oats, half as much again in added bran and a few raisins.
