What's your England team now?

.....................Robinson......................

...Horseface...Terry...Dawson.....Cole....

......................Carrick........................

.....Lennon..........................Cole........

......................Lampard......................

................Gerrard.............................
...............................Owen.................

SWP - fast player - shit at passing and just about everything else.

Danny Murphy - can pass, and do almost everything better than SWP (except the pace thing).

This is how it should be done....

GK: Robbo

LB: Cole, A
CB: Ferdinand
CB: Terry
RB: Neville

DMC: Carrick

RM: Beckham
CM: Lampard
LM: Gerrard

AM: Cole, J

SC: Owen

Subs: James, Crouch, Campbell, Bridge, Bent, Lennon

That's how we play it, Beckham Lampard and Gerrard play narrow, and Carrick Terry and Ferdinand support and cover for Cole and Neville who will provide some width as sort of wing backs.

If we're losing, drawing or winning by a narrow margin around the 60/65th minute throw on Crouch for Carrick and go 4-4-2 with Cole on the left wing. If that still doesn't work, stick on Lennon for Beckham or Bent for Gerrard.

If we're winning by a decent margin, chuck on Campbell for Owen and play 5 4 1 with Crouch on his own up front.

Not a lot to argue with imo.

I'd be a bit wary of relying on Neville to give us width though. He does tend to cross it from the halfway line when he gets flustered.

There does seem to be a lot of confidence being shown in Carrick. Good player, but this is the WC. I wouldn't imagine a lot of teams would be happy landing an international rookie (more or less) with the holding role.

I'm not expecting a lot from Bent either.

10 over-rated players + Gerrard.

England don't have a prayer.

Si senor

We're going after the Perennial Underachievers Trophy...if we can wrestle if from your lot

Whilst I'm not sure I'd put in the first choice XI, Corax has a point with Dawson who has been outstanding for Spurs this season and has to be honest making a still very good King look a bit amateurish. Worth a squad place?

My England 1x would be.
Oliver Reed
Harry Roberts Wolfie Smith David Blunkett Basil Fawlty
Robin Hood Guy Fawkes Matthew Harding Pete Beale
David Brent tbaldwin
Subs all the people on the apprentice.

Agree with your options but I have no idea why you'd elect to play a very good left sided midfielder in the hole and one of the worlds best hole players on the left, if Rooney is out it gives us an opportunity to play Gerrard and FF alongside a DM so they can both play to their strengths, I'd switch Gerrard and Jokehole.
