Thats what he's done to 'prove' he's international class.

Rooney is lauded for fucking MISSING but Crouch is criticised no matter what, its a load of old shit, doesnt matter what he does at the end of the day, he'll still have the twats on his back.

Oh and it wasnt that long ago that Liverpool's record was better when Gerrard didnt play, its probably back upto 50/50 now, so you'd do well to return that opinion to wherever you got it.

Yep ...that's the team I'd pick too, with Defoe instead of Owen if he doesn't make it.
 
If only that bastard mourinho had let shaun wright-phillips play this season. He's quick, nobody will mark him and he can beat them if they do, and furthermore he looks fucking hilarious standing next to peter crouch :D

Maybe switch to 3-man midfield with Cole in behind the strikers. Playing Gerrard up front will be a monumental mistake.

I wouldn't gamble on Owen to start with either - handy on the bench, but he's nowhere near fit enough to lead a front line in the WC.

The only problem with Lennon is that he's so raw that he's bound to give the ball away a lot because he hasn't got the passing ability, vision or tactical nous yet to play a little bit more conservatively. And in the World Cup if you give the ball away you're dead. It's gifting the opponents possession that has been the main reason that England have done so poorly for a very long time.

He's injured atm. Don't know how seriously though.

I think SWP would be more experienced than Lennon and what with the Mourinho effect I would be surprised if he gave the ball away as much as Lennon.
 
It should be noted that France won the World Cup eight years ago without a striker as such. However the defence of Thuram-Blanc-Desailly-Lizarazu with Deschamps just in front was just about the best ever essembled internationally, and Zizou, who was their Rooney, was in devastating form.

Then again...maybe Defoe or Bent or Fowler instead of Crouch.

Lennon instead of SWP, Downing needed in case Sven gets reqally creative and changes tactics during a game.

This side has the best balance and frees both Gerrard and Lampard, the only question for me would be whether Cole would cramp their space 'in the hole'.

I'm one of super danny's biggest fans, but better than SWP he is not.
