Arrived early for a 10 o’clock appointment that turns out to have been an 11 o’clock appointment. So I’m sitting in the volunteer cafe drinking too much espresso.

Sunrise in summer is at 4ish, so you often don’t see it, and if you do you’re normally munted. And not always better in winter, this morning was nice but quite chilly, many a morning it is just dark and rainy, not so much fun traipsing through woods when it’s like that...
Seems like there’s more red and pink in winter with the sun so low but I might be imagining it. This morning I have no view at all just fog.
Something, something sun low in the sky = more atmosphere for the light to travel through affecting colour...
According to the weatherman just now, it's because it's low and has a longer wavelength, therefore no blue. I'm so much more in the know now .
You just weren’t trying. A London winter sunrise is like Dickensian magic but you have to make an effort!
The Sun is getting low in the afternoon sky in Cyprus at this time of the year but the light stays clear and bright.
I really cannot see how the sun can possibly be any lower at sunset/rise in the winter than it is in the summer. It's setting. That's as low as it gets without being set.
Sunsets and sunrises this year have been more dramatic due to a Russian volcano. I don't know if they are still affected. This sulfur-spewing Russian volcano is turning sunsets purple
