What's yer dream car?

My all time favourite. Sublime Frua design. Cars will never be as beautiful or, sound as beautiful. LHD Spyders are surprisingly affordable. Looks best in silver.

The Maserati is very nice but a Ferrari 250PF or AM DB4 make it look fussy IMO.

Either of these would do nicely, + the income to run it of course.

one word ... veyron

still waiting for my test drive of this i so hope it's gonna be round silverstone rather than a road test :D later this year i hope...

I must admit I'm falling for these things. Seeing Richard May doing 253 mph with no hysterics from the car was a real eye-opener.

£839,000 though. :(

You do mean the original '68 and not that God awful modern 4 door thing they've chosen to call a Charger.

Beautiful isn't really a term I'd use, :D but yeah they are lovely.

I mean the recent ones, mayb e beautiful is the wrong word, I just love the aggressive styling of it... very roomy inside too :)

this um.

But with the original Wheels and tacky Sticker s removed:mad:

its actually an attainable "dream" pricewise and still a day to day car , rather than a one off treat. apart form the fsct it would sit on the street in SE London as I dont have a sprawling country estate with a triple AC & heated garage.

Only 4 gears tho:confused:

'ere zoltan, I'm not really a lover of modded 911s, but this caught my eye the other day.

Not sure if I could live with Cup alloys instead of Fuchs, but for less than £14000 and average 3.2 Carrera price, summat a bit special.

"Acceleration is OUTRAGEOUS!" :D

Could be fun - but the Turbo is as much as you would really need in standard form.........., but Im a sad purist - I had an S2 Audi a few years ago that someone had "jazzed up" with momo gear knob, aftermarket CD raks and the like ( mechancis where uttterly sound and unmessed with )- I spent months poring over Illiegally copied Audi parts manuals and workshop Microfiches to identify the right parts and then tracking the bits of trim that were used in other Audis, raiding scrapyards for an obscure piece of moulded plastic.

I really dont know why people get perfectly good 911's, paint them garish colours and put on vulgar expensive wheels & tacky aftermarket interiors- thus reducing its value and its sell on desirability in one move....

Yeah, know what you mean, but the slim body and performance did appeal.

Also on Pistonheads the other day (and still is) was Peter Wheeler's TVR Speed Six with full Blackpool service history and "God know what else" done to the suspension etc. :D That was up for about the same amount of money.

* Saab 900 convertible, the olde stylee version, not the newer models. Verrrrrry sexy.

* Morgan.

ETA: And a VW Campervan, one of the early models with split windows.

Saw one of these in town yesterday

Lovely, but I'd still prefer one of these, no matter how impractical

v8-vantage-series2-1.jpg

But for Sarf London Road use/ school run/ shoppping at Champion Hill Sainsburys etc , this would be more practical

( If you have to ask what it is , then you dont deserve one )

It's a shame that Group B was banned before it had chance to show its full potential as a rally car, because it was probably the best of all of that breed of cars. In principle, anyway.

It was also responsible for one of the funniest things I've seen on Top Gear, when they let Clarkson loose on the test track in one of the original rally cars. He came out of a corner, booted the accelerator and said, 'There's nothing happeni ... SHIT!' as the turbo kicked in, 100bhp suddenly became more like 600 and he spun round in a nice big circle and took the front spoiler off.

All of the Group B cars were impressive. Unlike the rest of them (with the exception of the lovely Lancia 037), the RS 200 also managed to be beautiful. I bet it'd be a stupendous road car ... if terrifying at times!

i remember unused Metro groupBs ( I think ) - wot they called now ? - being sold off for £20K after the rules changed.

That was the Metro 6R4.

Unlike all the other Group B cars, it was still allowed to compete in national-level rallies after Group B was banned. There are still a fair few about, and they're still just about competitive.

It's an awesome beast to watch in action but, well, it's not exactly pretty is it? :D
