Whats The TV Remote Called In your House?

My boyfriend's family call it the dibbler...I have heard my dad refer to his multitude of remotes as 'guns'

Mostly I just call it the thing. "Where's the thing?"

I hate to be boring but we call ours the remote. However I keep wondering why the on-off button is in so many different positions on remotes. With Sky systems, TV's, DVD's, stereos etc we've got ten remotes and there's no consistency about where buttons are , especially the on/off button - I watched about ten mins. TV in bed last night then reached for the remote to switch it off and brought up teletext cos the top right button (on /off on downstairs TV) is teletext button on upstairs TV.

Minor niggle I know but life would be simpler if there was a 'standard' for remotes

We seem to have at least 12 sets of THE BUTTONS - tellys, video, DVD, digi-boxes, music centres, computer, playstation and camera. Too much.

"Where are the buttons?" - "in the basket by the fruit bowl OR where you left them!" ;)

Despite our atheism (because of it?) our remote control is affectionately known as "god".

"Where's god?"

"Have you seen god anywhere?"

ours too. or where are those bloody buttons
:p :D I know!! I just can't change the channel or turn on the tv without the remote now, if I can't find it I just go and use the little one in the bedroom, I guess my big tv will last longer since I don't turn it on anymore if I can't find "the remote"! :)

Mine is called the "plinker plonker" in honour of Mark Lawrenson (y'know, the camp BBC football "pundit"?), who once said something along the lines of "People will be reaching for their plinker plonkers to turn over in a minute" on MOTD once......much to guffaws and sniggering of Hanson et all.... :D

'The Black One' for the, er, black remote control and 'The Silver One' for, well I don't need to spell it out.

The black one is always going missing, which is a bummer as while the silver one does all the channelly stuff (it's the digital one), without the black one you can't turn the flippin telly on!!!!

I always call it the Doobie Doo ? dont no where that came from but its alays been known as that in my house.
