What's the most you have ever paid for a pair of jeans?

I bought some levis in japan for about £50, I think that is about the most I have spent. I have bought some in TK Max that supposedly used to be £150 etc but the best looking pairs I have ever had were from Uniqlo in Japan and cost £15-£20. I'm told they do the same style in the UK now for about the same price.

About £35, I think.

It's so long since I bought or wore jeans, I really don't remember.

I did once get given a really expensive pair, though. :)

I did some heavy duty jean market checking recently, and the conclusion that i came to was that Diesel are rubbish and over-priced, Evisu is just nasty, H&M, Next and Topman were cheap but shit,

...but the king of the jeans market at the moment is Uniglo - beauty jeans and only £30

ps this has very little to do with the OP so soz

I once saw a pair of Ed Hardy underpants with the "Love Kills Slowly" epithet that brand is so fond of.

I couldn't help thinking "hmm. What like syphillis?"

Have never been able to look at Ed Hardy garms seriously again since. Not that I ever really did though...

I really like Uniqlo jeans too.

paid about £60 for some miss sixties i then never wore. got about £30 back on ebay a couple of years later iirc. topshop/h&m do good enough jeans for me, but i don't live in jeans like a lot of people do so i'm not hugely fussy. my magic jeans (the ones that every time i wear them people ask if i've lost weight :D) were 99p on ebay - i'd seen a style i liked in topshop but they didn't have my size, so i staked out ebay for a couple of months and eventually they turned up

btw Geri - I'm fairly short and round too and I've always struggled to find good fitting jeans, but I went to a proper streetwear type shop and they were v helpful. I always wear mens cuts as they are way more flattering. I highly recomment "Meet Bernard" in Greenwich or a shop in London that sells workwear/street wear but the name escapes me atm, near Covent Garden :o

And of course you aren't in London either are you? :o :o but yeah, don't give up on the jean hunt. See if you can't find a friendly local jeans purveyor who is prepared to spend some time explaining the various cuts an' that! :)

There's a shop in Bristol that has like a million pairs of jeans in it, so I think I will have a quick look in it tomorrow, if it isn't too busy.

Not that I am actually in need of any, I have four pairs already.

you can get both helmut lang and APC jeans for around £90 if you shop around. both will last you a lifetime and worth every penny. I've got pairs of both that i've had for nearly ten years and haven't worn through anywhere, where-as a pair of levis or something you're lucky to get two years wear out of.

Cheapest possible that fit...

My jeans are a necessity.. not a luxury... I wear out knees and rip the arse outa mine.. and tools poke holes in the pockets...

I've got jeans in a few sizes as well... I've grown larger and smaller over the years.. From a size 8 to an uncomfortable 12/14... Tight they were.. Was verging on a 16.. Now between 8 and 10 and just bought three pairs from a well known supermarket.. ( Asda... Yeah I should know better.. ) as I am hard on jeans and have to replace them frequently..

I'd like a nice pair for best... but I know I'll wear them to work when the washing needs doing....

I've never worn out a pair of jeans in my life.

Something on the high side of $300. I won't say exactly what.

I had a party to go to. I'd let my wardrobe lapse. It was the final day. It was 4:30, and I needed something to wear.

Sears didn't have anything. Or the next store I went to. My son was with me, and he wanted to gtfo, he had a party to go to.

I knew the expensive store upstairs in the mall would have something, but I'd been avoiding it. Last time, the pants/trousers had cost 225.

But time was running out. In we went. They looked down their noses at me: I was wearing shapeless grey sweatpants, and a dirty polo shirt. You could see they were thinking: 'trash'.

I found a pair of pants. White. They wouldn't have looked out of place in Monte Carlo, somewhere near the beach. I tried them on and they fit. I thought, 'this can work'. But luckily, my son handed in a pair of something more sensible. They fit also.

We went to the cash register. I hadn't looked at the price tag yet. I don't think they had one. He punches it in, and up comes the total. I try hard not to blanch. You can't go white in front of the sales staff, or they'll be on you like wolves.

I turned to my son, and said, 'you might have to lend me a couple of bucks'. I hand over my card: is there enough money on it? I don't know.

There was.

Next issue: do I tell my wife how much I spent? I did. It wasn't a happy time. You could see it in her eyes: 'when did you last spend that much on something for me??

The party was good, though. And the hole that I put in the butt, it's small. I think that invisible mending will handle it just fine.

As I'm running out of the store, the 20something clerk thrusts his card into my hand: "Come back, I'd really like to dress you.

Yes, I'm sure he would, now that he knows that the card doesn't bounce. Maybe if I win the lottery. He seemed a nice young man.

I find Jeans much too heavy - I overheat in them - so I haven't worn them since I swapped a motorcycle for a pushbike.
I have one very robust pair I paid less than £20 for in BHS maybe 15 years ago and which I would only trot out in the event I had to climb under a car or something ...

My 42 inch waist rules out designer clothes generally.

£225 for a pair of purple selvedge PRPS (not the hideous holey/prestressed/worn ones) which I ended up not liking, but generally don't spend over £100 cos I can find stuff that fits good and looks good (I would push the budget if I did find something suitably nice though)

I've never worn out a pair of jeans in my life.

Really ?

Gosh i've had jeans literally falling to bits before.....

:)

Have never paid more than about £40 tops...............wouldn't even bother going for any of the brands mentioned as i am fat and i know they wouldn't do the size !

Tbh am quite happy with my primark and new look jeans.................my favourite ever jeans were a new look pair !

I don't think I wear them often enough for them to get worn out - I tend to grow out of them and end up giving them away! I have had one pair for a couple of years now though.

I've decided that my maximum spend on a pair of jeans will be £60.

1933s are a fine choice; the first issue to use redline selvedge and the last time exposed rear rivets were used. 33s shrink down to tagged size so size up one whole waist size. If you're a 32 waist, buy a 34. Expect to lose about an inch and a bit in the waist and two or three inches in the leg so bear the shrinkage in mind when choosing your leg length.

You'll need to hot soak them to get the shrinkage out. Don't put them in a washing machine or use a spin or tumble dryer it'll make them too soft. Line drying in the sun is best and they'll keep their crispiness. Put them on before they're completely dry. If they feel tight around the waist, persevere because the denim will stretch.

For sizing you can try a pair on if you're in London, although they'll work out cheaper to buy on the internet. PM me if you need to know more because I don't want to bore everyone here rigid.

£150 on jeans...have spent over £250 on regular trousers....f*cked if I would now mind...have a mate who works at diesel and has kept me in free trousers for the past few years, though sadly no longer works for them so will have to invest myself:mad:

cool. i was hoping that mgiht be the case with the sizing, as i know some are as tagged before shrinkage, which is not really what i want as i'm a 34" leg and i don't really want to run the risk of ending up with half mast jeans :D

thanks for your help. and i've been looking online for them, although it's all pretty academic at the moment as i'm skint.
