It always surprises me that Nandos is South African firm, not Portuguese.
I don't understand the ultra-hot chili thing. I mean I love the taste of chili, but too much heat obscures said taste.
Well, not really. Piri Piri just tends to refer to any hot sauce, not a specific type of chilli really.

Really really tasty - not sure how practical it is as a food additive though, cos it's too strong to splosh on your food. I had a blob on the end of my finger and it was very hot - not as hot as I expected though - I was expecting pain.
Great rush/euphoria from it too. My hairs stood on end!

This is so weird - why would anyone want to eat something that hurts?![]()

Plenty of people do, so probably not that weird then really.
See also, tattoos.

does this stuff have any practical usage? Can you put it in anything you cook or is it purely novelty value?!
My colleagues are now playing Mad Dog Roulette - one penny chew will have some sauce folded into it and go into a bag with some others folded in the same way - everyone takes one and chews on it at the same time. One person ends up with the chili bullet. Not sure if I want to play.

I thought piri piri was bird's eye chilli?
Anything made with Habanero's is gonna be hotter than those made with other types of chilli. Habanero's win hands down. A bottle of pureed habanero's from Central America is the hottest I've had, literally one drop in a dish for 4 was hot enough.
So they are: hottest chille sauce made by North East stockbrokerI don't know, you could make a bloody hot sauce using Nagas - they're 3-4 times hotter than habaneros.
