We can keep Mick Buffer to ourselves then.

"For the thousands in attendance... and the millions watching around the world................ Let's get ready to Rummmmmbbbbllllleeeee...."

No sport has an introduction like that.

Exactly, it's the greatest sport in the world.

I actually hold my breath when a BIG match starts....during the introductions and all that :D

I shadow box around the room like it's me being introduced.

funny, i know of someone else who does that from time to time..... :D

one month of world teams kicking a ball around gets my vote.

followed closely by the olympics

it's blatantly the world cup or the olympics

i think the world cup gets more viewers, but then the last world cup was pretty cack whereas the last olympics was ace. if the next world cup is rubbish then i bet the olympics becomes number one. i've got a feeling that it will be good tho

But boxing doesn't have a set event thats held at a set time of the year so can't really qualify for the poll.

To make the cut they would needs some sort of knockout tourney with all the people who own the heavey weight belts to work out who the undsiputed champion of the world is or something.

About the only tournments i klnow are ameteurs or prize fighters!

I chose the World Cup, but really it's a three-way tie between that, the FA Cup and the Tour de France. I think I chose the WC because it's not annual.

The Tour de France.

The other events are massive, but I am as yet aware of any event that is watched live - ie in the flesh - by hundreds of thousands of people daily. Mont Ventoux had, by all accounts, half a million people on it when the Tour went up it last Friday.

Exactly. Plus it is the most physically demanding and has probably the highest level of teamwork of all of them.

The domestiques are absolutely fucking amazing, let's face it.

And as a spectacle it takes some beating.

Indeed. What other event has most of its participants going into it in the full knowledge that they will be somebody elses - be it a sprinter or someone going for the GC - bitch?

For that reason Wegelius is probably the best Briton in cycling now.
