What's the first thing you would change if you were the boss of ITV

It just gets better and better for ITV. According to Media Guardian yesterday (tuesday 12th) ITV suffered their worst ever all day share for a Tuesday at 15%. Their big new show Extinct only drew 2.1m and came forth out of the big five (only narrowly beating a repeat of CSI on Five by 100,000).

I'd make it into this country's HBO.
Word:cool: I'd like to see that. Push television drama - single episode, long format adaptations and decent series.

Shove the substandard ITV news - I remember one of their journalists speculating the Brixton nail bomb could have been the work of Yardie gangsters, ffs...

Improve their current low resolution and bitrate on digital TV so the picture is watchable, at the moment their sport coverage looks like a pixellated mush, it's barely better than a Chinese internet stream, and everything else just looks cheap, as if it was recorded on VHS.

Once you've sorted that out it'd be worth putting some decent programmes on there!

Some suggestions:

1. Bring back Richard & Judy.... and then force-feed them to a pack of blood thirsty cougars live on air.

2. Repeat episodes of Heartbeat and Midsomer Murders around the clock, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, until the nation collectively loses the will to live.

3. Hire Steve Rider.

Apart from number 1, are they not doing this already?

Great! That's 2 out of 3, now c'mon Michael, all you need to do now is splash the cash and bring back the King and Queen of day/tea-time shite telly so we can all enjoy them being mauled to death by vicious predators.

The cougars are ready and waiting...

There is a nice TV time line on the BBC, must be some program they are going to show

Shows what ITV did make. Surprising if you've just woken from an x-factor induced coma and were alive to see them, was a while ago.

Fire all the producers and get someone in who can make something not copied from the BBC.

ITV has done exceptional programmes like Cracker and Prime Suspect which are some of the best drama on the telly. Unfortunately the station seems to favour the crap reality tv which makes me reach immediately for the remote to switch over. If they cut out the crap reality, celeb obsessed bullshit and bring back more quality drama (which they are capable of) documentaries and factual programming i might start to take them seriously again.

Granada certainly are capable of quality drama, the excellent Jimmy McGovern drama The Street was eventually screened on BBC1 after it was rejected by the ITV network. Similar situation with the Caroline Aherne's comedies, Mrs Merton was originally a regional programme on ITV in the north but it, and the Royle Family and Early Doors ended up on the BBC despite being Granada productions.
