What's the easiest and cheapest 2nd hand car to run?

Skodas actually are supposed to be good - but suffer from the old jokes here. Doesn't everyone in the Czech Republic have one?

They are good, specially since joining the VW fold. They are VW under the skin's same motors as the VW and audi's but significantly cheaper.depreciation is a killer on them though, but makes them a great second hand buy. the VRS Fabia is a lovely little diesel, will surpise many much bigger cars in the performance stakes. Round a track will beat the new mini cooper (top gear and fith gear program) so is a true diesel "hot" hatch for reasonable money and will do 48MPG.

AX diesels have good economy no power an no reliability the 1400's head gasket has a habit of goin an the 1500 has a oil leak. dont handle badly but not well either

ford fiesta's aren't bad. my beloved car has just had a bit of welding done to pass it's MOT so it should be good for another year or two. shame nowhere much sells the petrol for it as in spite of being 23 years old i'm sure it loves the long distance drives!
