whats the difference between a trot and a leftie?

And they were on the right side in Spain.

Were they? Most sources I've heard say that the POUM was closer to radical left reformism like the Independent Labour Party, and that it held only a tiny and irrelevant Trotskyist faction, so if they were even on the right side it may not really matter if there were only a few dozen of them.

At least Trot papers come out on time, and don't threaten to become magazines every time the editors change.

This is, in fact, a good thing.

What would the rest of us do for bog paper, firelighters, cat litter and so on if our Trot comrades didn't go through an entire rainforest once a week for their bonkers little tracts? I'd have had more success selling the Big Issue (and probably benefitted more people doing so) than attempting, and failing miserably, to sell Socialist Worker.

Although you're right about the Anarchist papers often coming out late and their being continual rows over content and so on, to be fair.

The trot/leftie split of 1957 was particularly savage even by socialist standards. Over four dozen dogmas were killed and several others mortally wounded. A number of five year plans were reduced to twenty and even forty year plans, and optimisitc ones at that. The rate of the formation and dissolution of Internationals skyrocketed to over 150 per day. Some of the meetings called to deal with the fallout are still in progress today, in one case the introductory remarks have been in progress for over 52 years with only a single interruption in 1981 when a working party had to be sent to the shop to buy 64,000 tonnes of rolling tobacco and a single can of deodorant.

:D lol at that, particularly the last sentence!

53 posts and I am no clearer about what the difference between a trot and a leftie is than at the beginning of the thread.

a trot holds left wing principles, but articulates them through the very power-structures that should be anethema to any leftist principles. As such they get a spot against the wall CTR.

But as they meant well there will be a small plaque and individual graves, when I am Supreme Leader Forever.

TBH its a silly question. A trot is a trot. They are quite distinctive as there are 57 different variants/parties/internationals. Its all a bit embarrasing.

If your a left its a much, much broader category. I think even Blair considers himself a left!! So your in pretty safe territory being a left.

The question should really be whats the different type of pratts amongst the left?

What specifically? Any hierarchical party structure?

What kinds of power structures, specifically, are acceptable to an untrot?
