What's the best way to use your vote to stop Boris?

*sigh* what so you think that they junk the 1st preferences and then elect them just on the 2nd preferences? How the hell would that work?

Please don't vote. Give your ballot to some with at least the mental capacity of a clever monkey.

i knew a boy like you at school, we tied him to the top of the climbing wall one break and left him there.

If this is all you know, why are you offering an opinion?

I offered an opinion based on what I know. Which as we have established, is very little.

My lack of knowledge shouldn't preclude me from having an opinion - This is Urban75; knowing fuck-all about a subject is the bedrock of most opinions here surely?

You're talking bollocks Siento. Everywhere that uses a transferable or supplementary voting system has the same questions and issues of confusion, even countries like Australia who've been using STV systems for decades.

He's just joking/being ironic? This is exactly why some idiots are voting (cos Boris is a laugh) and Swarfy is taking the piss.

Yes - it was a flippant comment based on nothing more than me being an idiot and messing around.

Still I appear to have irked littleseriousjesus, so I guess this isn't the thread to go being a dufus on.

:(

or vote for the person you think you might like the second best 1st, then think about the one you would have put 2nd, then put them 1st and imagine that if they were actually 2nd, what would there name really be?

thats complicated

i thought it was vote for the one you like best 1st and the one you like second best 2nd
That's how the vast majorit of people interpret it.
To interpret that sort of voter intent properly, you'd have to weight the two votes - eg. 2 points for a 1st and 1 point for a 2nd. But that's not how it works. They should be called 'primary' and 'run-off' or something.

What's wrong with Boris?

I think he would be far more entertaining as Mayor than Ken.

He's a stupid, bigoted, racist, elitist, out of touch idiot who has absolutely none of the credentials, skills or experiences necessary to run the world's most important city.

but Australia's a parliamentary system (so there's other issues, like your constituency, national politics etc.). I mean, when you look at something like London Mayor you know only one person gets elected, you know it's gonna be Ken or Boris, you know you have two votes, logic should dictate the rest.

If only everyone we're as fucking great as you, eh? :(

I heard that you don't have to vote for two seperate people and can just vote twice for Ken

Is that correct?

(Goes off to Google it)
