What's the best way to get puke out of a carpet?

What's the problem with someone asking if anyone knows the best way to clean vomit from a carpet? Are we all supposed to be born with inbuilt housekeeping knowledge or something?

I just would have thought it was pretty obvious. You wipe it up, you clean it. What other options are there in that situation?

For standard carpet stains - as soon after the event as possible you need to

Scoop - as much of the solid up as you can (with a spoon/spatula)
Blot - remove all excess wet material by blotting with paper towels or soft cloth
Solution - add small amounts of a detergent solution (quarter teaspoon of mild clear liquid detergent mixed with a cup of lukewarm water) using paper towels or soft cloth, starting at the outside and working towards the centre
Water - repeat blot, but instead of adding solution, add small amounts of lukewarm water to remove detergent.

n.b. some stains have different needs - e.g. candle wax is brown paper and a warm iron

Yes, but what with?

It's not like I asked how to do the dishes or something. As it happens I think your suggestion to use soap is pretty wrong. I wouldn't use soap on a carpet. And the point that it probably contains protein was also a good one. It's not really as simple as just whacking soem soap on it.

Well what can I say? It's always worked for me, sorry you took offence.

BTW detergent (ie soap) breaks down protein.

Ha! :D It's that look isn't it? The one that says 'what? I puked it up, I'll eat it again if i want. What's yer problem??'

Then when you try to stop them, it turns to 'GETTHEFUCKAWAY!! It's MY lovely pile of puke!!!'

I love dogs :)

They are filthy fuckers! :D But yeah I love dogs too.
I have two crazy cats at the moment but I really do miss having a dog. It's just not doable at the mo though. Will definitely have one again one day. I shall be the mad old dog woman hehe

Yeah but it'll also leave a white stain on the carpet.

I thought that the was aforementioned clean patch :D
If you wash the soap off (with a slightly damp cloth) it won't leave anything. Make sure you mop up any dampness (although there shouldn't be any if you do it right) with a towel so you don't get a watermark. It's like washing your hands - soap, wash off the soa, dry them. I wouldn't leave soap on my carpet any more than I'd leave soap on my hands.
How did you do it then? Or is it still there?

Spill some paint on area that is 'contaminated' then claim on insurance for NEW CARPET.

How much money have you spent on contents insurance and never claimed????

Get some value for money payback.
