what's the best thing to clean my laptop screen with?

I've found a simple yet very effective way of cleaning my screen. Breath on it, till it steams then buff with a cotton hankie. Works a treat.

Isopropyl Alcohol

Causes screen yellowing over time.

So other than the man-milk, it'll look like you've pissed on it.

Brillo pads work best. Just remember to press hard.

so, a record shop might sell it??

They might, but they'll charge you a fortune for it - record cleaner is just 99% distilled/de-ionised water and 1% alcohol. You can buy litres of isopropyl alcohol from chemists for practically nowt (think I got a 500ml bottle for about 75p last time I bought some). They'll usually ask what you want it for, and will usually give it to you as long as you don't look like a solvent abuser.

cool, so with the IPA you just wipe it across the screen using a soft cloth? you don't need to dilute it or anything (i have just ordered some on ebay....)

I use water only and 2 X cloth for cleaning glasses. Wipe it with the wet cloth and buff with a dry one.

I never use any cleaning products

Too many of these posts are about cleaning glass screens. Laptop screens are plastic and very vulnerable to mistreatment.
