Yep, good chunk of the songs on Red Roses were covers, Shane just finding his feet on stuff like Dark streets of london (which you correctly say is a fantastic song) and streams of whiskey.

Did anyone Shane's biography, the one written by his wife? Hard to believe he's still alive, but how amazing that he still is!

You get the impression from the book that she's the one keeping him alive, looking after him... He started drinking/smoking when he was still a child!

I appreciate the robust defence of the IWCA you're giving over at the politics forum, by the way. I wrote the article which kicked that thread off, but I'm somewhat busy at the moment so don't have the time or energy to get stuck in.
