M&S aubergine bake, frites (fuckin' chips) steamed veg. Chocolate things. A martini with 2 olives.
Miso soup with gyoza and pak choi again to use up the other half of the pak choi. Experimental pudding I threw together this afternoon which was just gingernuts sandwiched together with plain yoghurt (nothing else) and bunged in the fridge. This actually worked and was really very good.
Had the pudding first because I couldn't wait to see what it had come out like. Next time I would add lemon zest. Everything is better with lemon zest.
My mum used to make a wonderful thing in the 70s - ginger nuts dipped rapidly into whiskey, sandwiched together into a long sausage shape with whipped cream and lemon zest. Wrapped into foil and left in the fridge for a few hours. It was AMAZING - squidgy biscuity alcoholic gorgeousness.
Kids had burgers and chips. I had chipotle prawns/onion/pepper/broccoli and sweet potato chips.
OK. This was fucking good
I have managed to avoid pork and potatoes for Two nights running. This was Patanisca de bacalhau com arroz feijao.
Battered cod with salad and a rice side dish with beans, onion, red and green pepper in a light tomato salsa. A meal in itself.
With bread, and a beer, less than €10 all in. Fabulous.
Yeah, I had heard rumours of such puddings. I have now proved that you can do it with just yoghurt. It's nearly healthy
A big cheese & onion pie.
Pork steaks with a cider, leek, creme fraiche and mustard sauce.
New potatoes and tenderstem broccoli.
Linguini with roasted mushrooms and cherry tomatoes. Wine.
Rollo de carne summat, or other...
Some sort of rolled joint of beef (loads of it) in a salty, smokey, BBQ type salsa. The chips and salad are good. I'm still working my way, little by little through the rest. Paid for - gotta fucking well eat it.
Looks like stacked Findus cripy pancakes...
It looks delicious. All Stan's Portuguese meals look amazing.
mushroom and shallot toad in the hole with onion and mushroom gravy <<<<<< FIT
Stuffed. It was a roll of beef filled with something. Rolo de carne rechalado - I think. Six thick slices of roast beef. Think I can give food a miss for a day, or Two
That was €7 plus €1 for the bread, and €1.30 for a very nice beer. I'm eating in this place everyday presently. Excellent value, fresh, home cooked stuff. The sauce was a little too salty for me this time. Usually, it is spot on.
Had parmesan and rosemary fries in a castle! there's a leftover ham and chicken pie at home, which i'm eyeing up, at the moment. And beer and, for my sins, Pringles!
I'm at work and someone requested my cottage pie. Remember why I don't cook like that at home much. I'm a total gluten and ate way more then I needed. It was a proper childhood comfort food mind and takes me right back.
Yesterday I was begged by daughter to make her favourite macaroni cheese and peas. Tonight we had vegetable curry.
Spinach & ricotta pizza. First time I've had pizza in several years.
Pork tenderloin marinaded in pomegranate molasses, sumac and tomatoes
Roast new spuds
Courgette and tomatoes braise with zaatar
Chickpea, tomato and roasted red pepper stew with broccoli polenta cubes.
Sausage and black bean casserole, roast potatoes and tenderstem broccoli.
I really think I should just move in with you. You've got a spare room, right?
Last night it was steak and bratkartoffel, raspberry crumble with cream and ice cream and loads of wine. We went to a really fancy place in town. Definitely the fanciest place I've ever been. The steak had incredibly thin slices of pig cheek on top of it that had almost melted into it.
Tonight we've had hummus and bread and having a diavolo pizza next. Yum.
We have had a lovely afternoon cooking, I made fish pie and the middlest and her aunt are making chocolate cherry cupcakes
My favourite pizza
Veggie sausages, charred baby potatoes, cauliflower cheese with truffle (get us!)
Coconut icecream with a splash of P.X.
Sea bass with kalamalanta olive butter with new potatoes and pickled red cabbage. Passion fruit swiss roll for afters (m&S deal). Cant wait!
Still can't figure out how to control focus on my budget smartphone. Got 'professional mode' now, but...
Done this before. Carne de Porco Alentejana.
Pan fried pork covered with diced, 'chipped' potatoes. Heavy garnish of coriander and pickled cauliflower and carrots. It is pretty good when you are in the right mood for pork and potatoes.
--// it has a token sprinkle of shellfish also.
I'm getting locals prices here now. For that I have to put up with them ripping the piss out of my Portuguese... "You speaking Catalan, or Gallego, or what?".
I am speaking Castellano with a Scottish accent
