For me , Early Doors , it was as good as early Royle Family . Constantly funny , intelligently written , anyone who has spent time in a similar pub will identify with the characters , all very believable . The two policemen just had to walk in and it would make me smile.

My dad recommended this to me recently so I downloaded it. Can see exactly why he likes it, seen as he spends half his life in the pub :D
To be fair, I liked it too, apart from the title music which had me jumping up quick to turn off.

black books never fails to make me laugh, eating scrambled egg with a comb out of a shoe... pure genius. But i also love Green wing as well.

eating scrambled egg with a comb out of a shoe

:)

customer: Look, there's no other way to say this, but i didn't come in here to be insulted.

Bernard: Well, i didn't ask for the job of insulting you. In another life, we could have been brothers. Running a small, quirky taveria in sicily. Maybe we would have married the local twins instead of wasting each other's time here in this dump. But it was not to be. So hop it.

:d

I'd like to add acknowledgment for 15 Storeys High, too. Excellent series that was never as popular as it deserved to be.

Black Books from that lot.

Customer: You know, I'm probably getting a lot of secondary smoke from you.
Bernard: Don't worry about it. Get me a drink sometime.

I tried to watch the Mighty Boosh again the other week. I got through one whole episode, started the second, and just thought 'fuck it, this is too fucking shite to waste any more time on'

Oooh yeah, Darkplace. Definitely a deserving candidate for an honourable mention but not as funny as Black Books, Barley, or The Thick Of It.

Pulling. A absolute classic and a disgrace that they have not given it another series.

I never watched it at all, but found myself in front of the telly the other night watching the 'special' and laughing quite a bit.

A bit of a catch-up is needed on the series of 'Pulling'. :)
