I'm alright. No debts. Income easily covers outgoings and I don't have to worry about my expenditure.

yep, I agree with this, as long as there's enough money to eat :)

This is why I sort all essentials on pay-day. If I have a roof over my head, travel paid and food in the cupboards then I can survive on about £7.50 a day.

It is not ideal but it is good to try and reign in the spending once in a while, just to get you in the habit.

That's exactly what I do - I'm shit with money, but not with bills

I'm alright. As OU has put it above, I have been utterly useless with my money but never where it concerns necessaries - I've never owed rent, got in trouble over bills etc. Where I did used to be awful was not checking my balance (so that I wouldn't see that I couldn't afford to do something ) meaning that I would spend spend spend and then end up way over my overdraft limit, ending up having to take out an even bigger loan than before.

These days I have no loan (just 2.5k student loan debt), and a moderate overdraft. I had actually paid off my overdraft and was saving quite well, before I decided to go part time and go back to uni - now I have very little money every month, but still cover my part of the rent and bills etc. No mortgage and have never had a credit card, thank fuck.

The biggest difference now is that I'm quite happy to do without if I can't afford it. Not being too bothered about excess partying helps.

I am really bad with bills and council tax. So much so, that I doubt they'd let me get much credit in the first place. My only debt is my student load, which isn't a proper debt (ie. if I can't afford to pay it, they won't send the bailiffs round)

I still NEVER check my balance, literally.

everything gets paid ontime, I manage our house money, and I even have enough to save now too :)

I can get by on very little, I did when I was paying off my debt :)

Definitley. (and that doesn't mean eat well, i just mean eat) If I don't have money I look for interesting stuff that can be done for free, or get stuff done in my house. If I've got money I go shopping or fritter it on clothes :o :D

I always pay my bills on time it's just the spending money that can go a bit overboard when I see shoes :)

no credit cards, paid my student loan back (after 10 years...), all bills sorted by direct debit, fairly good salary...yet i'm still crap with money, there never seems to be enough!

two incomes coming in are the way to go, i know - but i don't want to live with anyone. i like living on my own so i'll have to just lump it i suppose.

when you've been £14,500 in debt, and it matters where every penny goes it really helped :)

I do it now to make sure I'm not slipping into old ways again :)

I don't do it every single day (ie not normally at weekends anymore) so its not as crucial but I check everyday at work

I'm always concerned that some bill will go out that I've forgotten about!

This. Apart from I have a mortgage, but that's no different to paying rent.

I check my balance every day :) it helps me stay in control :)

I check mine about once a week, I also have a spreadsheet with my expenditure. I started doing it years ago, I can get some pretty cool graphs from it too, Crispy would be proud. I do it for fun, mostly, curiosity and possibly because I'm a wannabe accountant... :D

I just plotted a quick graph on last year's spreadsheet, turns out that 43% of my expenditure is on the mortgage... I didn't know that till now!

Shit

Can't save - although have put a couple of hundred quid aside for household repairs cos of a couple of nasty shocks last year

Get it, spend it. Goes through my hands like water. Even when I'm making a real effort not to
