Question What would you do with this print?

I've got the oppurtunity to pick up a legit hand screen print from a well known artist (and someone I've followed for a long time) for a reasonable sum of money, I'm kind of buying it as an investment really, so don't want it getting damaged, but I'm also a bit of a believer that art should be seen and not hidden away, and really want it for my wall.

So would you keep it tucked away, or would you frame it up and display it?

Display. Any proper framer should be able to use materials which will protect against day-to-day damage. Probably not worth insuring it separately unless it's worth over £20k or so. A normal thief is unlikely to recognise the value and you'd pay well over the odds for it.

Its a very distinctive artist who's basically a household name...... So there's a good chance it would be recognised to be honest.

Hide it underneath a print of that tennis girl scratching her arse.

I propose a guessing game on this distinctive artist, anyway. I'd go with an illustrator. Perhaps Quentin Blake, perhaps the Pratchett bloke (Josh Kirby?) - I don't know anything about the OP's cultural tastes, and presumably the winner of the game would be someone prepared to trawl through relevant threads. But we're looking for someone like that, who has knocked out plenty of covers or illustrations to well-known books, prints of whose work would be relatively affordable. A cartoonist of some kind - Scarfe? Bell? - would also meet the recognisability and affordability criteria.

If it's fine art, then we're looking for someone immediately recognisable, prolific, and relatively recent (hand screen prints are a c20th thing, aren't they?). Dali, maybe? He could easily have knocked out a limited edition of a few thousand bendy watches and cackled over the total income they would bring in.

I'd stick it up with Blu Tak, then look disappointed when it falls off the wall when the heating goes on.
    Don't be like me.

Yeah I'm hoping for advice on a decent framer to be honest, I've always done stuff myself.

On a totally different print, if anyone knows what I can attach a 1960's woodblock print to a piece of mount board, I'd like to know too (aiming not to damage the paper/print obvs.

Depends how much it's worth. You can spend hundreds on framing if you want.

This is the artless art thread.

If you don't know what to do with it, don't bloody well buy it.
